These birds are a mystery to me, seems that they are always stressed, in community with others.
Not only in these times of couple finding, pairing and breed times.
The big advantage of a large breeding colony has a high price for them.

Hello everybody and thank you for a new Heron Webcam season It was fun watching all these families and their behaviour. I wonder whether there will be another little brave Frederick.
Do herons come back to their place of birth or must they search another colony?

good question aquiline. Never thought about .
Fact is the very high mortality off the young ones. I suppose the surviving offspring stay in the colony.
Because of the location loyalty of Herons.
They return to their breeding places as long as the trees stand which they use.
I think the remaining few youngsters may stay in the community.

Good morning!
Yesterday evening was summer in Estonia, today morning if I opened my eyes was all ground again white....
Some herons are building their nests, some have eggs, in one nest was yesterday four eggs....

hmm, ok, I have to accept that in the golden years not all is golden and i have to take more rests the older I get... so that I can enjoy too the summer, the autumn, etc. in the woods ...
