They are moving more and more to the front, as if there was a balcony-like structure right under the camera. Or they are on the branch which we see, but below it there could be smaller branches which make it kind of safe for the little eaglet... :puzzled:

I'm guessing that they are waiting for the ringing to find out if it is a he or she. Two years ago with Anna's and Uku's nest names for the the three eaglets were given only after the ringing.

Good morning :hi:

3:56 Suvi brought new bed clothes to the nest. In other words, she brought some dry plant material and spread it in the nest. The eaglet lies on it now.

We have spoken about the structure of the nest and some of us have understandably wondered, how stable this nest is. Let’s collect the information we have.

We know, that this is originally a natural nest, built by eagles.
We know, that Urmas attached some material to make the nest more stable.
We know, that the thick curved branch we see in the foreground and the Y-shaped branch in the background are bound together by Urmas.
We know, that there are at least two healthy branches of the nest tree under the nest, one of them under the middle point of the nest.
We know, that the branches added by Urmas rest on those healthy branches.
We know, that there is at least one healthy branch of the nest tree between the nest we see and the camera.
We know, that there is one thick and healthy branch rougly about 50 cm from that curved branch towards the cam.
We know, that the eagles have added different kinds of material to the space between the nest and the cam.

We do not know, how low exactly under the nest level the branches between that curved branch and the cam are.
We do not know, how hard material the eagles have added to that space between the nest and the cam.
We do not know, how much a hard rain after a long dry season would take down the soft material of the nest.

My humble opinion is, that there is no biological worry for the eagles in the nest. When the eaglet eats 100 grams of fresh fish, it gets about 75 grams of water into its body and no dehydration (drying out) can happen. The condition of the nest is more worrying. We all know, how easily very dry materials can be ground to powder between fingertips. The weather forecasts show no rain this week or the next one...

08:35 a.m. good morning!
The eaglet and one parent were in the nest and suddenly the parent moves and goes to the branch on the left, out of the camera vision. Eaglet looks to the movement (are you going to leave now?) but relaxes when he sees the parent staying on the branch. What is the parent doing there? creates a shadow wide enough to cover the eaglet (from a closer distance to the eaglet, the shadow would be smaller). So the birds not only have a clear perception of where is the sun but also play with it.

I remember my father, psychologist, stating the animals obey only instinct, which was understood as pre-formed patterns. Clearly is not, they are creative and solve the needs. As us, but from a different mental and physical frame. Otherwise, how to survive in this voluble nature"

Is there something wrong with eaglet´s right (left in the picture) leg? It looks swollen and "unnormal", or is it only because of the point of view?
