08:53 there was another fish delivery

Big Dee, Knips was hungry  and got fed, two times (12:23 and 13:17). First, when he managed to get to the garpike (12:23), and later once again when he was begging (13:17).

13:17

Cilla was again about 4 hours in nest, sitting with her chicks :D

Knips' dark feathers :D
Image

18:06 I'd say this is a proof of good and a lot of food
Image

after this PS Knips meant it's time for dinner. Knips and we spectators are spoiled. Today there were 3 fish so far. Maybe Osis will bring one more?
Knips lies down to Boss, hiding behind the left tree trunk. If the big branch on the screen on the left keeps on growing, we will not see them often anymore.

19:42 Boss again nice wing exercises :D
Image

....and Knips is watching :D

19:45 Boss is doing some nestworking - housekeeping - moves hay
Image

....from Knips only the feet are to see :D

This evening dinner fell out. There was no more fish delivery. But both are still well nourished.
23:13 they are sleeping - all is quiet

23:35 - 23:39 a tawny (?) owl could be heard in the distance

May 31st

06:11 - Osis delivered a morning garfish and started to feed Boss. Minute later Cilla came and changed Osis in feeding. Both eaglets were fed, Knips was faster in taking morsels from Cilla s beak. This is a very typical for younger eaglets in both nests. (Sorry for picture, I had not time to make another one).

Image

09:46 Another prey, small one, only Boss ate it (S/he has pecked Knips preventively  ) and gulped a big last morsel (big tail) at once. Only 2 minutes feeding.

Image

10:13 Mom with a hay

10:33 Osis with a flatfish, Cilla flew in one minute later. Boss did not allow Knips to eat... probably s/he love flatfish so dont shared them :innocent: with anybody.

Image

12:14 another fish... it looks like an eel. Boss threatened Knips so the little was crying with its head deeply down. Boss ate it all and after gulping its tail pecked Knips :( Poor baby.

14:48 Cilla brings a BIG flounder, flatfish.

But Boss is very strict today, threatens Knips and continues to eat. I dont know which fish in a row! :faint:

Knips is crying at the side and later at the back, has no courage to come to moms beak. Finally at 15:08 he started to eat and he and Cilla finished the rest of a fish. He has eaten only for 2 minutes.

11:03 Yummy! Another fish for kids!

They ve eaten 3 garfish and one small fish in the morning today. Nothing left. Parents have brought fish in an astonishingly accurate span of 2 hours. :dunno:

Thank You Lubaska for your wonderful reports with cute pics :shake: !
Things are great and beautiful here in many ways. We, as godparents of eagles :innocent: ,
can relax alongside with the growth of the kids, I think. It's true that at this age eagle-kids look like they notice each other first time, even staring sometimes. At the beginning the other sibling only is a threat, now a fellow.
- Right now in the nest, you guess, the kids are together and sleeping. Will be a hot day, but so good to know they've eaten well. :D

June 3rd

05:03 Boss is playing with a feather

Image

05:48 a small fish delivered, still alive. Boss grabbed it but was not able to swallow it. Nibbling and playing with it for some time. Then s/he slept again.

Image

06:29 a garfish delivered. Mom (?) started to feed the small fish first. Boss ate it all. Then she fed a garfish to both eaglets.

When babies try to hide themselves in hot sunny days, they have the only place... at the closer edge to cam.

09:28 - 09:31 Boss has unwillingly pushed Knips on the very edge - it was a seriously very tense moment!
Knips had to use his hanging left wing several times in trying to adjust his gravity and to bring his hanging left food back on the nest platform. I was pretty sure that we are going to lose out little baby  Luckily Boss has moved from the place and Knips has managed to get back on safe ground.

Hey, bro! Why are you lying in such a strange posture? Where is your wing? Let me observe the situation!

09:54 Another garfish for the babies. Both eaglets fed.

Image

Parent stayed in the nest with kids to make some shade for them, although there are already clouds on the sky and we can see the whole nest in shadow finally.

4th June

Yesterday late evening, 23:02, a horde of wild boars with newlings crossed the path under the nest. They were very loud, must have been many.

It is cloudy today and very windy. Until now there was no breakfast or lunch. The two chicks are very hungry and already chew on old fishbones that they find in the nest. Looks like the fish have retreated and Osis and Cilla have trouble finding food. When Cilla brought a green spruce twig, Boss was so disappointed that Knips had to pay.

14:11 the wind is increasing, maybe a storm is coming?
Image

14:38 Cilla made a short visit with empty claws
Knips was begging intensively and Boss ? his look says it all ....

15:38 yes, Sylvika, a looooong garfish was brought by Osis - yeah, he found one :2thumbsup:
Cilla was calling out loud when she saw him coming in with

Unfortunately, Knips didn't get anything from that fish. In 10 min. the whole big fish was eaten by Boss. Early at the beginning Boss bonked Knips down. Poor Knips is still crying and begging. Hopefully Osis has good luck again and brings another fish soon.
It is still very stormy, certainly not easy to catch fish from the sea

17:21 Osis came with the second fish today. I could not see, what kind, but must have had a good size. Osis started to feed -of course- Boss. Knips had to turn with its back to the feeding, otherwise, if he wanted to move, got again pecked by Boss. Cilla came to the nest and took over the feeding. Knips kept on crying but managed to snatch very very fast 1 or 2 bites and had to turn its head immediatelly back quickly. Maybe Osis brings another fish? Poor Knips is very hungry

17:47 due to the wind we sometimes only see through a small window to the nest

18:02 it was brought something small to the nest. There was no view to see, what is was. Must have been small, because was eaten quickly - by Boss. Knips intitially got 1 bite before Boss got up and showed Knips where his place is and what he has to do.

Poor Knips is sobbing.

Thanks balistar for your good report - of the last sad happening when not food for Knips :( .
When we compare with Vilnis on the other nest we remember he made it through a day and night without food. So if weather changes soon again (after rain at the latest?) then fishes are flying to the nest again, that's our hope :2thumbsup: . - Now 6.40 pm the kids are sleeping, waiting ofcourse, not crying...
