Loch Garten (EJ)

Surprising George's fish delivery: EJ grabbed it and flew. GJ starts to settle on the eggs again. He seems to like it...good behaviour for next season as DaD.
Loch Garten, Scotland: GJ brings another fish today. Perhaps GJ is starting to realise the duties of a male Osprey but it's way too late for this year...

EJ and GJ are still together.
They defend the nest together and GJ sometimes even brings fish into the nest.

Birdfriend,
EJ lost her partner last year and then her 3 chicks. It was a very hard time for her. She stayed with the chicks until they were dead and then flew away every chick. It was heartbreaking.
EJ is 20 years old and so I was happy when she came back this year. She joined forces with GJ, a very young male, and laid 3 eggs. It's not sure if all three eggs are from GJ. At the beginning everything went well and then GJ didn't bring any more fish, he only came into the nest from time to time and wanted to mate.
EJ stayed on the eggs for a long time until she finally flew and fished for herself.
Then GJ showed up again with fish, incubated the eggs, then he didn't come back for days and so it continues since then.
EJ turns 21 in August and so I am very sad that there will be no chicks from her this year.

Oh, this is really sad and tragic. I feel so sorry for her. Two bad seasons for EJ. But she has a good age, that's a good fact. Many thanks, Bawet!Bawet wrote: ↑June 7th, 2018, 7:33 am Birdfriend,

Laddie and Lassie are having a bad time with fish right now.
Lassie found another fishtail in the morning, maybe a remnant from yesterday, because I didn't see a delivery this morning, from which she ate herself and still fed to the little ones.
The little one is very submissive and as I read, the big one should also beat and push away the little one.
Laddie came back to the nest without fish this morning. Lassie screamed and he flew away.
I hope it gets better soon, because Laddie's always been a good provider.

It got better and Laddie brought a big fish.
At first the little one stayed behind and after a while ventured to the side of the big one.

Bob 2 is submissive but clever and stands in a good position when he can
