good morning, or is it a bad morning....

i have all night on video, fortunately.
1:35 there was some rustling which seemed to "go" down.
1:37:48 Vilnis chuckles somewhere down below.

edit: i tried to manipulate more 'visibility' in the video but black is black.
anyway i listened to the video again. it sounds like Robis came down to the nest and (accidentally) pushed Vilnis down. he was sleeping right next to the left branch in the evening when lights went off. after the fall-sounds but he called from downstairs.

then til 2:31:12 there are no more sounds.

Good morning, Liz,
Good morning, everyone,

Thanks, I hope Janis Kunze finds him.

I don't believe it. This can't be happening.
I've thought a few times, Vilnis, this is a shaky business on the little sticks

If he is hurt, Janis will find him. If he is not hurt, then everything is fine and Milda & Raimis will take care of him.

That's what I thought.

Yesterday was a terrible day for me, the owl took a second chick from a nest and I still think, with Vilnis we are out of the worst and then this happens.

Thanks also to everyone for the videos, pictures and reports.

10.25 a bird screams in a fly-by. It sounded like Bussard. Robis made these strange noises.

10:25 a buzzard flew by and greeted Robis. she chuckled back.

Bawet, i think those voices were alarm calls or rather warnings to the buzzard.

away.

Vilnis is gone!
Biker, thanks to your previous post about slipping Robis

I can think that it could happen again and as Robis was landing on nest and flapping her wings, she could unwillingly push Vilnis from the nest.
Oh boy, poor baby. These younger nestlings (Knips and Vilnis) both had a difficult childhood in Latvian nests this season.

thanks, Liz!
this is the message that MĀRIS wrote (GT'ed):

by MĀRIS » 13 Jul 2018 09:28
"Message from John C. He now runs to Durbertville, where he will try to find out the situation. On the spot he could be approx. after 1.5 hours. Possible scenarios -
1. Wave is somewhere on the branch.
Of course, John "soap his tail" as quietly as possible, so as not to disturb the natural processes.
2. Wave is on the ground.
Janis Vilni starred and raised to the floor.
Since lactation has been sufficiently recently, the condition of the eagle's should be very good, and John does not see the need to put Wool in a box, transport it to the cage / wenger /, ... "

Someone's on their way to Durbe. This takes about 1.5 hours. After that you have to find Vilnis first and then decide what to do.

There's supposed to be a message afterwards.

Let us be patient and wait with our thumbs crossed.

now i have oiled my brain with the usual dose of caffeine.

someone wrote either in the chat or in DDF that they had heard some footstep-like noise at 9:37.
if it takes 1.5 h to get there it could not have been Janis yet. and we don't even know when he has left! :puzzled:

has anyone heard anything?
