Thank you, Bea!
How do you differentiate between common carp and prussian carp?
Shape, colour, fins... ? :puzzled:

Prussian Carp is more silvery and has often a higher back

http://www.luontoportti.com/suomi/en/ka ... ssian-carp

When you click the pictures at this page you can see also one that shows a Prussian Carp and Crucian Carp in compare.

It's difficult...

If you take one website, this fish looks more silvery and the other fish looks more golden or bronze colour. If you watch the pictures at another website, the first one looks more golden and the other one more silvery... :whistling:

Thanks a lot everyone for the reports, and mogga for the jumping fish video!
As can be seen from the video, that large branch which Irma brought just this morning, turned out to very useful - it kept the fish from jumping overboard
So maybe that's another secret purpose of the fresh sticks/branches now - to keep the fish from jumping out of the nest! 8-)

August 10

5:03 Short visit by Kaja
5:40 Also short visit by Heli
6:51 Kaja again in the nest
7:25 And Heli again

7:51 Ivo delivered a fish for Heli, while taking off he, entrained two sticks which dropped on Heli
7:57 First Irma came, then while Irma leaving Kaja landed
7:58 Irma delivered a stick
8:10 Kaja collected the morsels Heli spilled in the nest
8:11 Kaja took the half-eaten fish, from which Heli stepped away
8:12 Alarm. Heli and Kaja went flat
8:14 Heli left
8:22 Heli came, Kaja jelled at her
8:31 Kaja saw something in the air and took off with fish
8:36 Heli left
8:48 Calling Heli was back
8:59 She left again and kept calling from nearby

I scrolled to the YouTube-Stream twice, but I didn't recognize Jaak on the nest today. Maybe he's on a longer trip or received fish elsewhere.

Checked a statistics about when the ospreys were last seen on the nest. Hopefully this year's very warm summer will make them linger a bit more..

For Irma:
in 2013 - she was last sighted on 23 August
in 2014 - 21 August
in 2015 - 19 August
in 2016 - 24 August
in 2017 - 20 August

So Irma might presumably start the migration any time from 19 to 24 August.

Chicks:
in 2013 Kaido last seen on 8 September, Kenno 12 September
in 2014 Elar and Aino were last seen on 12 September
in 2015 Yolanda last seen on 5 September, Niina on 15 September, Thor on 19 September
in 2016 Ivar last sen on 4 September
in 2017 Daimar was last seen on the nest on 27 August and Daisi on 11 September

So the young osprets can presumably migrate any time from ~ 27 August to 19 September

The male:
in 2013 Ilmar was last seen on 12 September
in 2014 Ilmar was last seen on 12 September
in 2015 Joosep (J3) last seen on 18 September
in 2016 Ivo last seen on 4 September
in 2017 Ivo last seen on 11 September

So Ivo might presumably start his migration journey any time from ~ 4 September to 18 September

Alert. Two large birds flew on the left corner, looks like Irma or Ivo were chasing away an intruder
