PL, Lodz

Woodek
(2017, Dab = "Oak" nest) - now BIAŁY / WHITE
July 26
Our both "Youngster" with transmitters from the previous year: WHITE (Solo: Woodek) and YELLOW summer season are spending in Hungary. Their locations are about 89 km apart. You can see that YELLOW is very active and travels over longer distances than WHITE ... maybe WHITE rests after the harsh conditions of African wintering grounds, when we lost contact with it probably dirty with a dried-up solar panel ... Fortunately, the logger already has 97% of battery we are very happy that we can observe both birds

MŁODSZY - YOUNGER, 157T (2016, Sosna = "Pine" nest)
April 30
YOUNGER (hatched in 2016 in the nest on the pine) only a few days ago set off from Sudan to the north. He made a stop in Israel, 20 km on the S from the Tiberian Sea (Galilee). However, he did not stop at the Jordan River, but directly at the canteen, or at the fishponds. Storks are not liked there. Owners of some ponds unseal networks that prevent birds from accessing water. We count on the YOUNG experience - in 2017 it was already flying this route

AUGUST 20

Baska, Liz, TY :2thumbsup: :D

PL, LODZ FB
(GT - later correction)
August 13, 2018 on the nest got crowded. An additional young stork appeared on him, who even stayed there for the night. Where did he come from? We do not know that - he was not ringed. But it clearly shows that a period has already come when the young black storks leave the family nests and begin to camp around the area. Then they look in different places and prepare for the journey. This stage, immediately preceding the migration to the wintering area, may last from several days to a month. Our storks have just begun this stage.
And on August 16, a family flew to the family nest, but the nest was empty. The stork looked up even if the chicks would not feed on the meal. They always did that before. But the chick was gone. Our eldest (the one with the locator) on August 16 was already feeding 14 km from the nest. Perhaps in the following days one of the chicks will look at the nest yet. But generally they are already independent.
This year, storks laid 4 eggs, 4 chicks hatched and 4 flew out. The previous years of our broadcasts have shown that such a successful season rarely happens. Now we are counting on the fact that our storks will still be lucky.

I gave a link to the pic with 5 storklets in the nest. This is a remarkable event we've never seen in the cam: we learnt that a migrating storklet may stay in other nests even when the hosts are at home and they don't chase it away! The storklet may fry from other region or maybe even from Lithuania.

- that event is in my post with FB news from Lodz (link is also to that photo)
- in migration time we see enough often that on WS Nests - young strange stork/s (I saw or read also about feeding more times), but on BS Nest I saw (read) that first time (but we have only very few cameras with streaming - 5 this season)
- who know where are storklet from

AUGUST 21

PL, LODZ - Woodek (2017, Dab = "Oak" nest) :D
Our WHITE from the previous year, who went to Hungary from the wintering ground in Hungary and spent the last summer months there, between August 6 and 18, also visited Poland. ️We are very happy that he did not forget about us :-)

asteria, Solo :hi:

I've made a video from the polish nest last year, or two years ago? A stranger juvenile came into the nest to the others storklets. There was no dispute. I will search the video in my YT channel.

I found it 03-08-2017 Strange storklet visit :

That explains why you can not remember. You had a vacation, I think.

You found it in the thread! That's great! Thank you. :2thumbsup: Sue has seen it first
I only searched in my archive. Some videos are not in the LK.
