Good morning!

According to Hellem's update… each of storks are now flying south, except Maru. Maru started so brilliantly first,
strange that she still flyes zigzag there in Lithuania? And hopefully Karula is okay there in Ukraine!?

Otherwise, could it already be possible to let us know about siblings gender, and "Uncle" or "Aunt" Eedi's?
For my part, I've been thinking that Karula is a boy and Maru and Päike girls.
Right or wrong, I don't know, but is it maybe coming some guessing about it? It might be fun?

---

Edit: Karl has apparently a fine favorite place in Romania!

Referring to the Bird Map record, Karula stayed overnight (23-24 August 2018) in a treetop at Central Ukraine. Please watch a screen shot of the site below. There's no Karula to be seen in the image, however. The air photo was taken before it hatched.

Thank you for the exact dates, Juta. :hi:
It looks like Karl usually stays about a month in this area.

:hi: Hellem, thanks. I'll copy-paste again your info, OK?

Here are some detailed views:

I made a merged image (birdmap + google maps) of the latest position and movements.
Karula always returns to the same spot, near the river. There must be something to eat.

This looks like a good area to find food and to sleep.

Maru
1100 km (+41 km), still in the same area in Lithuania
Last data: 23.08.2018

Maru flew the largest number of kilometres (from the three storklets) but travelled the smallest distance to the south...

Karula has climbed Maru and Päike, Päike has climbed Karula. Everything in youthful zeal

It remains exciting, who is what? :whistling:

Judging from the migration, I would also commit myself:

Karula is a young stork man. But the results of the sex study are not yet known.

Eedi:
Most probably male Black Stork (white ring with black code 712W on left leg). His foraging sites and breeding site are situated in southern Estonia, close to Latvian border, in Karula National Park. For trapping of Eedi it was needed one and half months (look the photo gallery of Eedi) and finally we succeed in 1st of September 2015, when most of Black Storks already left for migration,...

Thanks a lot for all updates by everyone
Anne, very good work (and much work)

I've made a overview of all Estonian Stork from their position today. It was not so much work as find the position our Storks in google maps.

Thanks, Swenja!

Oh dear, Maru flew back to his/her favourite location: the wooded area along the Vilkija - Vilkijos hidrografinis draustinis - near Bandoriai. Didn't he/she find enough food during his excursion?
He is currently at the border between Latvia and Lithuania.
