video: several alarm calls
I had no idea the calls of these birds are so similarWojtek wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2018, 6:05 pm Marfo mentioned there were a lot of calls by Honey Buzzards today. But there were also calls by Greater Spotted Eagles (Tiiu). The short version of the alarm calls by GSEs is similar to the HB call:

HB

Yes Biker, I have heard it although it was very faint. At this level I wouldn't be able to say if this was a HB or a GSE.Biker wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2018, 8:11 pm![]()

okay i will make it louder
Yes, I think so. There were a lot of calls today by Honey Buzzards and by GSEs. In fact, I suspected that the eaglet stayed on the nest most of the day because of those alarm calls by (most likely) Tiiu. The eaglet clearly reacted to those calls because it was looking up and turning its head to see what was above trees. I wonder if a fledgling GSE is able to distinguish between HB calls and GSE calls.
Tõnn made quite a start when the eaglet arrived to claim his meal
