the strange male stood on the branch for a while looking around...
8:04 (nearly) he jumped down to the nest. (my recording is bad... )
8:05 the stranger saw that Milda was coming and flew away. he flew to the top of the spruce on the right.
i'll try to make better recordings later, unless someone else makes better...
edit: i tried but the problem seems to have been in the transmission. the re-recording was not better.
the stranger was not far, he was on the top of the spruce on the right. he flew from there to the nest. he stood there silent and without moving much, holding his head down.... slowly he lifted his head. he was very careful about not make sudden moves. Milda talked a little.
the stranger was very submissive.
his cheek is dark like Milda's cheeks. also the overall colouring looked darker than that of Raimis.
the humid weather may, however, make the plumage look darker than it 'normally' would look.
the raven flew to check the nest. then he flew to the spruce on the right. - i usually have to do a lot of work to make shots like these but this shot i got for free thanks to the poor quality of the transmission.
thank you Sova!
.... i'm a bit puzzled now. i could not hear eagle's voices here.
i think i heard a jay shrieking, then some raven's voices.
12:20:56 a greyheaded woodpecker called, then a raven's voice again and 12:"1:18 the greyheaded woodpecker again. in the end also a fieldfare made voices. that's all i can hear here. https://youtu.be/mXkrUuwKVaI
while i was looking for the eagle's calls i heard a call at 13:11. just a few seconds earlier a big bird flew by. the bird looked a lot like an eagle or it was a raven, i can't say for sure.
the eagle voice was a female's voice.
i have heard a lot of swans singing for some time now. the voices are becoming louder...
i wish we could see them.
... or are they geese.
any way, there are many of them, talking a lot.
13:34 Raimis preened... a downy feather blew away from his back and flew at the camera. then the feather got stuck on the plastic ornament on the right.
then Raimis brought a stick. i think he landed on Milda back and slipped out. the stick stayed on Milda's back.
now Milda is doing her best to drop the stick.
Liz made some good pictures of this event.
they can be found below.
13:45 soon he came back with a new stick i think. - it was rather a twig.
13:46 Milda went to the left branch. ... then to the top branch.
Raimis started work.
he has clearly bigger tail spots than Milda's new wannabe-boyfriend .
then i realized that i had a problem: i had not restarted my recording about half an hour earlier.
i had to record the delayed stream and that was no-good. i had to record it all again.
it took time....
