Last night was full of excitement. One of owlets jumped down to the right from the balcony pillar. Second one flew to the pillar to watch sibling. And then the severe storm has started. Second owlet jumped back to the pot. It was after midnight and property owners Tracy and Allan were sleeping. Fortunately storm woke them up and they started to look for the owlet in the garden. During this storm, rain and lightning, owlet was found among the cactus and brought back to the balcony.

December 2nd
The camera view has been changed and you can now watch the flight abilities of the owlets.
It will not take long, when they leave the safe balcony

GHO's visits were rather silent lately. Maybe it's not the time for courtship yet.

GHO visits this nest each night. It seems to be good place for hunting in winter.

Very bad news from Pot Plant Owl
Both owlets died of "Trichomonas gallinae" (this is the same illness the Australian eaglet is suffering from) . The bird they brought to the pot (dove) was the source of it.
It seems that parents (Lady and Pappa) are also infected.

Pot Plant Owl - 4.01.2019

Tragically, this in one of the last videos of the 'Adopted' chicks. Taken on 30 Dec. They are feeding on a Laughing Dove that has been brought to them by Lady, the female. The dove was infected with a deadly disease. One of the chicks succumbed on 3 Jan, the other is currently fighting for its life at a specialist Avian Vet. Lady has not been seen for 5 days.

Oh, what a sad news, this infection is very fatal. I saw the suffering from two peregrine falcon chicks in Melbourne until they must starve. Very sad, thanks for sharing, Mamicja.
