Hello everyone, and greetings from South Africa. Did not see any BS there, though. (But quite a lot of ES...)
I'm still going through messages from the last two weeks, and maybe this has been addressed already, but I'll just respond to this now.

The GPS satellite connection is strictly one way. A GPS receiver is only a receiver that listens to the signal from the satellites and calculates where it must be. There is nothing going back up to the satellite. The two-way arrow in the earlier "schematics" picture should only be going down. There's not going to be any log to retrieve and take a look at with the "satellite guys".

Many thanks, pazi!
This is useful information.
Enjoy South Africa!

I am away most of the day. If we have an update, could someone take care of it, please?

I've worked several years for a previously well known Finnish mobile device manufacturer (starts with N), then for another American company that used to manufacture these devices. Accumulated knowledge over the years.

Oh, I most certainly did. I'm back now, was there for almost two weeks, with 5 days in Kruger Park. Lots of interesting birds there among other animals, but no black storks. Lots of cattle egrets and ibises, though, and many many different eagles. Bateleur was my favourite.

Blimey sova, what do you need eight reserved spaces for postings for? Does it serve a purpose? :puzzled:

The only reason that I can think of is that you want to prevent that postings of other forum members 'disturb' the sequence of your postings.

This is exactly as you say. Maybe Raija tried to catch some other information which could be available, e.g. the GSM-towers with which Päike's Ornitrack communicated last?
As a professional, Pazi, please, would you like to illustrate possibilities to know, what was the tower of the last transmission Oct 7 2018? And even more interesting, did Päike's telecommunication device shake hands with any other tower after that, before its next calculated transmission time? If yes, it could advice where Päike went next, if anywhere, and did its backpack system send any stop communication message to any tower.
