December 3

Good Morning all :hi:
Many thanks for the update and interesting comments. Solo, you have found nice pictures (https://www.krumenacker.de/en/lesser_sp ... _Migration) :2thumbsup:

I've captured a picture of Karula's new area. It looks different to Anne's picture. I wonder who has the newer cards. Google or Bing :puzzled:

There are two more fish ponds and the area has been cultivated

Hello, everyone

Thanks for all info about the available satellite views. :2thumbsup:
It is not easy to know what the most recent view is.

Sova, thank you! I have put all the weather data in yesterday's summary.

Karula flew to the shores of the Dead Sea. He probably found the salty water unpleasant and, in addition, there was no single fish waiting for him. That is why he decided to fly back to the north.
Here is the tracker map from yesterday at 14:12:10 (UTC+2) until today at 14:57:20 (UTC+2)

TRACKER MAP
Karula_Dec02_Dec03

Dead Sea
"The sea is called "dead" because its high salinity prevents macroscopic aquatic organisms, such as fish and aquatic plants, from living in it, though minuscule quantities of bacteria and microbial fungi are present.
In times of flood, the salt content of the Dead Sea can drop from its usual 35% to 30% or lower.

Maru will have a new GPRS update around 15:50 (UTC+1)
I will keep you informed

Poor Karula

She saw the dead sea's water from far and imagined herself choosing a big fat fishy :innocent:

When she came closer she got only a "parfume" of minerals and cosmetics to treat her beautiful face :rotf:

 Good Morning all!

Thanks again for all the information, BirdMap and TrackerMap updates, BlackStork photos, and wonderful landscape photos!
It's great that we can follow our birds migration thus comfortably.

And again I have to say that they have still a lot to see, do, and wonder at their first migrationtrip ... hopefully they copes well and find their winter homes.

Maru flyes near River Nile, very good that she/he went away from that wastewater pond.
Karula flyes near Jordan River, good that he went away from Dead Sea, back to better fish pools.
Päike... her last data is 07.10.2018 Greek/Schiza/Àkra Gàidaros... but what then? I know there is no answer, but hopefully some signal would surprise us some day.

I know, Solo
Their entire journey is full of dangers: high-voltage cables, starvation, hunters ...
I believe it would be good that Maru could find a safer and greener location. She probably has mainly been eating insects for 34 days now. Grasshoppers, beetles, larvae, maybe worms... Insects are nutritious (a good source of proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals), but she'll need a lot of them to satisfy her hunger and to remain well fed. And I think Maru would really enjoy some tasty fish and frogs by now.
