Thanks for the thanks, but sorry if I produce pain with my images, it wasn't intended. Karl has a great family and I wanted to see them all again. That's why I searched Karl's & Kati's picture and additionally also an own picture of each of their chicks, without forgetting anyone. I think the pictures are beautiful, and they are 'reminding' us all of whose flights we follow with happy, assiduity, and sometimes with big worry.

maybe that's interesting for one or the other.

The flying skills decide about the destination:
In 2014, a team of biologists at Lake Constance (Germany) equipped young storks with mini transmitters that record positions and movements. The scientists have now investigated initial data on the migratory behaviour of birds - and after ten minutes they are able to predict whether an stork will land in Spain or Africa.

It‘s so nice to see them again, although we know about Päikes fate ...

That's just it. We don't know. I mean, we don't really _KNOW_.
And I keep insisting we will not know for sure until the rings are spotted, or the transmitter comes back online.
So in the meantime I like to think Päike's wintering somewhere in Africa carrying a broken transmitter. Maybe eventually to the full 20-ish year lifespan. No way to tell either way unless spotted.

It was simply touching to suddenly see the picture of our beautiful Päike.

Pazi , in the strict sense of logic, you are of course right. We do not know what happened to Päike (or her transmitter). Although, in my opinion, some scenarios are more likely than others, every statement remains speculation. There is no evidence.
