Re: Following Karl's Family
Urmas requests that we do not publish further information from Maru's tracker map. He is able to follow the course of the transmitter now, but we no longer have need of that information.
Hoping for good news from the Estonian embassy about repatriation of the transmitter!

Thanks again for your detailed explanations!kuhankeittäjä wrote: ↑February 28th, 2019, 11:28 am Thanks for your note. I corrected the name.
Better ask from ornitologist what is reliable and what is not, to their experience.
Don't spend your precious time on me, because I'a a "lost case"! When I see graphs or even 3-4 numbers - it's "Chinese" for me.
I'm zero in math&phisics, but excellent in statistics - never understood why

Hello, everyone
Thank you for these thoughts, kuhankeittäjä.
I know that the inclination of the bird's body (the body posture) can be seen by the X, Y, Z values of the accelerometer, but, unfortunately, I'm unable to interpret these data. Thank you for explaining!
It sounds perturbing to hear that Maru might have had this kind of trouble. Poor little Maru!
I hope that the observations in situ (+ the photos taken by Amr), and the findings of the veterinarian can give more clarity about the cause of death.
Here is Karula's morning tracker map.
He is constantly flying the same short trajects, these days.

... Urmas writes that she walked a lot but still flew for overnight during the last days. Evidently she perished in the feeding grounds. The accelerometer indicates that she walked inclined to one side and after death positioned balanced sideways, head side slightly down. This may be caused by injury in another leg or some asymmetric load attached to her, which she could not get rid of. Maybe a predator consumed her toes, wild animal life as she was living, or she got some kind of net or rope around the neck. It seems as if she had fallen to the loaded side three days before perishing and twice two days before it. ...
Thank you for these thoughts, kuhankeittäjä.

Looks like it's very cold and rainy for Karula, but she might have good food there! I'm sure she is happy with this large choice of Fish ponds

Hello, Sova
This is an areal view of Karula's current area (zoomed), if I do not mistake.
Solo, do you think that it is correct?
The fields look different.

Yes, that is what I meant. The field is different.
That big irrigated circle between the night area and the breakfast area is different (new?). A field could change within one season.
But the shape of the ponds look quite the same to me.
