:hi:

Since yesterday, some raised the question: "Why did he leave Maru lying on the field? "

We have to remember that he had the transmitter on his back. In some regions it might look suspicious to people who know nothing about this "thing". It might even scare them...

Another reason, if it looked sick, why should someone touch it? One has to protect himself etc.

And above all, for us it's MARU but for him it's just another bird. :slap:

Sad, so very sad …
but I want to remember Maru as she was, cheerful looking beautiful bird, who bravely left her nest only at the age of 78 days ...

Thank you, Dr. Gebril and all the others who participated in the search for our Maru!

It would be nice if there was a vaccine to prevent tuberculosis. Then the cubs could be vaccinated when ringing.

OMG ! It is heartbraking !

I feel so sad that our beloved MARU had to die due to a godawful bullet !

Fly free, little Maru ! ... at least now

baska: Maru was deadly sick. I believe the bullet was an act of mercy.

Baska and Treia, I know how distressed you are about Maru.
Treia, thanks for the photo.

He made a little flying excursion to the east and returned. Maybe he needed to stretch his wings?

Good evening together,

I want to thank you all for the reports and informations. Also for our Karulas tracker maps. I really hope, he/she is fine.
Many thanks, Treia, for the picture with our little Maru. Although it's painful, it is so good to see her.

It makes me deeply sad to think about the fact, that for sure many other birds in this Egyptian region have also the AVIAN TB. This is a catastrophe.
If those wastewaster pools are a collection basin for TB-viruses, it is an environment-catastrophe. The pools must be sanitised immediately.
Even though southern countries are in many ways different from e.g. European ones, I believe that the Egyptian authorities can remedy such catastrophic conditions. They must.

Our Karula is hopefully in a real (earthly) paradise.

Both views to south.

02. March

Good morning to all :hi:

Anne, I did a complete weather report for Karula yesterday, now I see half of it is missing !? :puzzled:
I also had that yesterday in the late afternoon at my last post at Hungarian Eagle. At first I thought, really, that I have become forgetful.
So ... or my PC has a problem or the forum * swallows * not everything I write. I'm doing the report now completely ...

Edit;
So .... report is complete

To see here .... I uploaded all my weather pictures yesterday evening. My brain is still working

Sova
Oh, and I thought something happened that stopped you in the middle of the job. I waited patiently.
Once, I had the same problem. I think I forgot to click on the "submit" button. :rotf:
Please don't worry, Sova. I'll do the summary now. Thanks.

This morning, Karula flew to the fish ponds of Khavat Eden

Anne .... I am sorry that you have been waiting.
No, I did not forget * Button * to print. Everything was there. I have seen everything.
In Hungarian eagles, where I did not see my last post, I searched in the other topics. I thought for a moment that I am crazy. :D

Good Morning all :hi:

A great thank you to Dr.Gebril. :2thumbsup: It was a very fast work by all of you. I'm glad to know why our Maru had to die. The reason is terrible! I am relieved that Maru was redeemed from her suffering.
A help would not have been possible. avian tuberculosis is not curable.

Please do not follow the link if you do not want to see our dead maru. It's the FB site of Amr-Hady.

EDIT: Tuberculosis (mycobacteriosis) occurs regularly in wild birds. It can be transmitted orally by infected prey animals, for example. A weakened immune system can promote this infectious disease. This disease usually manifests itself as a creeping process and ends later fatal.
Tuberkulose in wild birds:
Ihttp://www.greifvogelhilfe.de/krankheiten/tuberkulose/

I do not think the bacterium is in the water. :puzzled: I think Maru ate something that contained this bacterium.

As soon as I suspect something goes wrong in your head, I will let you know, Sova (via PM, of course)
So far, everything seems OK. No worries.

Tuberculosis Transmission by Waste Waters: A Review
https://www.jstor.org/stable/25033338?s ... b_contents
"The conclusions that appear to be justified are:
(1) wastes from institutions for the tuberculous almost always contain large numbers of tubercle bacilli, and although present methods of disinfection of sputum and other discharges will reduce the numbers of tubercle bacilli, they will not eliminate them,
(2) dairies, slaughterhouses and other industries handling tuberculous animals "may be expected to discharge tubercle bacilli with their wastes",
(3) tubercle bacilli may survive in soil for long periods and conventional methods of sewage treatment will not destroy them although their numbers are reduced. To destroy all tubercle bacilli in sewage a combination of complete treatment plus efficient chlorination of the effluent is required."

Thank you, Hellem

Hellem, (since 15.02) ? :puzzled: 25.01?

I do not understand.
Karula: Last data: 27.02.2019 (I believe)

EDIT: Sorry, Hellem, now I understand: the slider bar on birdmap starts indeed on 15.02.
Sorry.
You are absolutely right! 156 km since 15.02 is correct.

Now I'm waiting impatiently for our Karl to reappear.

EDIT: I have watched our Maru's picture on the FB site of Amr Hady. (in his mobile uploads)
It is of course very sad to see, but the picture isn't gruesome, thank heavens.
