Still seven days I hope the transmitter awakes earlier. It takes so long.. .He has chosen an area where he can live very private. Without us.

I dared to see that Maru's picture on the FB site of Amr Hady, encouraged by Anne's comment ... So sad to see Maru alone there, but it's really great she was found. Was she alone there all the time? Poor Maru!Post by Anne7 » March 2nd, 2019, 11:53 am
EDIT: I have watched our Maru's picture on the FB site of Amr Hady. (in his mobile uploads) It is of course very sad to see, but the picture isn't gruesome, thank heavens.
Good idea ... would it be possible to implement?Post by Bärbelbär » March 1st, 2019, 12:19 pm
It would be nice if there was a vaccine to prevent tuberculosis. Then the cubs could be vaccinated when ringing.

Hopefully Karl, Kati, Karula and Eedi will stay healthy!

Do I follow the correct map? http://birdmap.5dvision.ee/index.php?lang=en
If I follow, why is Maru still on map? It makes me sad to see that Maru is no longer flying.

It is clearly not my best day.
Good that you are awake, Hellem! I think I need a nap.

He has been here before. Yesterday!
I wonder what it is? A farm? A factory? An archaeological site?
It is located a little south of a "Military industries area".
On Zoom Earth it looks like this:
EDIT 2: Aha! I discovered what it is on Google Earth Pro:
Mahane Gideon, heritage preservation site, Transjordan Frontier Force of the British Empire, Israel

Good evening everyone
I highly doubt that Maru was shot for infection control purposes as a matter of fact I believe she was targeted by trophy hunters and they didn’t claim her because the ID Ring and the Transmitter were enough deterrent to let her be . Being sick and reluctant to fly it sure made her into an easy target .
I also like to add that she had a freshly caught fish in her GIT which means she didn’t starve until the incidence .
Thank you for your kind words, I did what I had to do as a wildlife enthusiast and veterinarian .
Sincerely Yours
Dr.Gebril

Good evening, Dr. Gebril
Thank you for all information. We greatly appreciate.
You are a good-hearted man.
It is painful to learn that Maru was probably shot by trophy hunters.
I am surprised to read that she had a freshly caught fish in her gut. We have not seen Maru for months in a place where one would expect fish. Maybe there is fish living in the irrigation channels?
I can hardly imagine that there are fish swimming in wastewater ponds.
Could it be that those trophy hunters (or poachers) had put fish on the ground to lure birds or other animals?

The thought that many birds die just because someone trophy hunters is terrible. That's are senseless acts.
My consolation is that she was ill. Otherwise it would be almost unbearable.

Godd Morning all
Animals also live in sewage. That is also available here! I see anglers catching fish in these waters. And they eat them too.
There are even sewage fish ponds.
Suitable fish are carp and tench, which grow even at low oxygen content.

Now I have time to say thank you. Thanks to Anne, Solo, Sova, Michi, Hellem and everyone who does this great job here. I really appreciate what you are doing here.
Now we hope that Karl will soon be on the way and our / our Karula can be observed for many years.

I couldn’t agree more since the species of the fish was from the Cyprinidae family. Simple it was a barbel .

good morning to all
Dr. Gebril, thank you for the further information. That is very generous of them.
How sad the people (wherever) have joy in dead birds / animals. I will never understand it.
