i can remember only one occasion when the male has stayed in the nest for the night. even then the male wasn't on the nest quite all night.
it was in the Lake Lubans nest in 2014. it was raining heavily all evening and all night and the male Sartas stayed in. in the next morning when light came Lubana (the female) was incubating. fortunately the recording was on all night. i listened to the videos in fast forward and i managed to find the change. it happened very early in the morning. wings flew in, there was some rustling and then wings flew out. they changed in pitch black night.
i found it:

Lubana came near the nest at 5:52. someone pooped and both sang.
then they sang again a few times. at 6:03 someone flew away. the first light started to come, so Sartas was on the nest almost all the night. it is almost a matter of opinion if it was morning yet or still night.

11:06:17 I watched the egg in the full screen. It looks like a feather sticking to the egg. I saw little fluff stand up.
It can also be dirt, mixed with fluff. It's definitely on the egg! Nothing is broken.

And you decided then that it is a leaf. One feather more probably, when Raimis a claw touches.

or some other thing that has stuck on the nest. it's not "our decision". Raimis knows best. he is the one who has brought in most of the stuff.Sonchik wrote: March 16th, 2019, 11:20 am I saw it at once and in a chat wrote, calmed all.![]()

Sonchick, I think nobody can say exactly what it is.11:06:17 I watched the egg in the full screen. It looks like a feather sticking to the egg. I saw little fleas stand up.

But, we can precisely tell that it is not a hole.

ame wrote: March 16th, 2019, 10:46 am at 35 s from the beginning of Sonchik's video the claw of Raimis touches the shell and makes it turn around a bit. the claw does not penetrate the dark area. there is no hole.

Nobody said that there is a hole. That would be a very unnatural hole. We would not see this color.

I grew up on a farm. I have done many experiments with eggs. I never saw such a color in an egg.

11:55 Raimis jumped to the right branch.

then he flew out to the right. Milda is still wet.

isn't it? it's all black from beak to tail. it's certainly not an eagle anyway.Liz01 wrote: March 16th, 2019, 11:32 am 11:31 Eagle flew past. Raimis is calling

i made a collage of two successive frames. to me it looks like a raven. the beak can be (almost) distinguished on the right. the tip of the tail is rounded as a raven has it.

the earlier bird was an adult eagle, probably Milda.

EDIT: ame, thanks for pictures and explanation.

EDIT:That's the good thing here. The more observe and write what they see, we have good results .. One can not see everything right. I do mistakes.

I'm on a second cam too ..there is stress on the nest
