I have to confess honestly, I do not know what I see.I think that these storks are very individual. Everyone has their own behavior.
Certainly there is basic behavior that can be assigned. But not every call and nod is attributed to the same event. It can have different meanings. I'll start from scratch on this pair again.
I hope it is understandable what I mean.

The defensive behavior that I have seen here, can also be an exaggerated response to the arrival of female?

EDIT: At Ozols, I immediately knew what was meant, even with Zile .. With Karl and Kati too.

Hey! Stupid questions: Doesn't Karl and Kati spend some time together in Africa, I imagined that they fly to Africa together and then come back for the summer time to Estonia? :slap:

It is assumed that they do not hibernate together in the same area. The siblings do not stay together too. In rare cases this may happen?
They separate already after the season. Theoretically it could be that Kati is spending her time in Israel and we know, that Karl's wintering area is Africa.

I have no knowledge of black adult storks with a telemetry from the same nests, just of white - maybe in one flock they sometimes flew during the trip on the way to Africa (Lilly and Robert here: https://blogs.nabu.de/stoerche-auf-reisen/karte-gross /); from this project, pairs are known where one flies through the western route and the other through the eastern route

Thanks for the information. So now the spouse is the one who´s come there first? Or do Karl choose a nesting place that is always at his disposal year after year? :dunno:

yes, first arrived on this nest the new male (that is usually)

they are storks (pairs) who have one nest more years and another who change nest for better, better place - better area
another situation is if their nest is already occupied - they fight usually

Retari, you're welcome
