17:30 Again, the male has mating thoughts, but Kati isn't in the mood for it.
Regarding Karl's absence, we only know 3 things with certainty:
1. He was already delayed in Lebanon and Syria
2. His transmitter stopped sending data on March 29th in the morning, above Syria.
3. He has not been seen on the nest so far (= 17 days later, if we include 29.03).
Although some of the possible scenarios of what may have happened to Karl are more likely than others, we know nothing for certain.
I personally agree with Liz and Rita that Karl had no reason
not to return to his old nest (if he was able to). A good territory, a good nest and a good female are not easy to find. He already had at least 3 successful breeding seasons with Kati on this nest. Why would he suddenly give up on all this?
Therefore, I am not very optimistic about what might have happened to our Karl.
I would have loved to say the opposite.
