Re: Black Stork Nest in Karula 2019

I laughed at one or two of the wonderful photos of Moss - especially the one where the male came with more moss and had his foot on Kati's back so he could drop it on the other side of her. (or so it seemed).
Could he be a first-time nester? Is there any way to tell if he is?

Sova, Crissy and Liz, many thanks for your beautiful pics and reports!

20:58 It is nearly dark in Karula forest. Kati sleeps standing on 1 leg. Karl II is still on the eggs.

Will we see a fifth egg tomorrow morning? It is possible, but I don't think so.

Good night, everyone :offtobed:

Thank you, balistar, for showing us the gentleman side and personality of Karl the Second. Kati is really lucky to have him as her partner. This pair is as special as Kati and Karl I were. :D

Karl II is building a "wire-mesh" fence around the nest. Good that we can see through it.

April 21

Good Morning all :hi:

Thank you for reporting, pictures and comments :2thumbsup:

Egg is not under Katis belly. That's interesting!
Her experience is that she can raise only 3 chicks here :puzzled:
I will ask M.S. if he has already seen something similar.

5:28 it rains

EDIT: I have take a look in the archive. Egg is visible 05:17 AM.
Last turn yesterday in the late evening shows, that she not has rolled the eggs. She only turns herself with face to the left. Maybe there is an uncovered one on her right side. We can not see it.
