Ivo seems to have an injury to his left leg...above the tag. Did anyone see what happened?

mogga, sunshine and pazi, thank you!

I found a video on YouTube, and after watching it I have to agree, green sandpiper. The bird that visited the nest looks very much like the YouTube bird at 2:46 in this video:

It doesn't always have to be mating, you can also simply enjoy the beautiful view. :D

I didn't know exactly either, but my experts confirmed it.

Another interesting thing about the Green Sandpiper (german: Waldwasserläufer, french: Chevalier culblanc):
Unlike its relatives, it does not breed on the ground, but in trees, preferably in old thrush nests. The chicks are precocial birds and jump from the nest on the ground, where they are guided afterwards by the parents. To the nest, they don't return any more.

19:04 Ivo arrived with a headless fish from the dead tree, is looking around and waiting, about 10 crows on the dead tree  , his left leg is still bloody (pinkish)
19:17 He flew away

19:44 Female with a very full crop for some seconds on the nest, she brought a lichen stick
19:46 Ivo came without fish, is cleaning his beak, female followed with a complicated branch :innocent: , 19:47 Both flew away

Thanks for your osprey day pictures in the evening, Sunshine! I love them. Especially this year where I haven't had so much time so far. So at the end of the day I can still look forward to some nice photos. :2thumbsup:
