but why is kati eating the nest material ?
i think that was nothing of the rest of the eggs, you could see how she took the material, e.g. moss. do you know ?
visit, i think there must be some edible small things in between what she is eating back.

Hello Balistar,

hm... - i've videos about it and will upload it... *need a little time
i was very surprised, have not heard about such a behaviour.
at first i thought, there is perhaps some fish, but i don't think so.
then i thought perhaps better to disgest and to feed later the youngsters - but i don't know.
*will upload soon

She probably ate back what the two chicks did not eat.
None of the food is wasted.

I look forward to your videos!

Oops, I see that balistar said the same thing already. :D
Well, now you heard it twice. :D

The transmission sometimes interrupts. Depending on the weather. In strong winds, we have more interruptions. :shake:

It can also be the other way around. :D

Balistar, I do not see the hole(s) in the other egg(s), right now. Too much moss!

16:20 still two eggs and two storklets

16:21 another feeding. Both are eating

only one egg is talking

16:24:27 I hear another talking too :puzzled: these were different voices.
It would be a big surprise, because an egg was out of the nest for a while. And it was a cold night.
Now I'm very curious.

Thanks anyway, Anne. I have taken a picture after Karl II had put the empty eggshells out of the nest bowl to the rim, but unfortunately it was only a view of 1 second and the pic is somehow blurred, not good to see.
Maybe there will be a better view on it later.... :D

visit, you are funny

16:(21-23) That was a very nice feeding. Smaller and bigger lamprey-like-things.
Kati took back several of them.
The 2 newborns were already competing for the food. :D
The one in the back row wasn't in an easy position, but both have eaten, yes.
Strong chicks. :2thumbsup:

16:(58-59) Another nice feeding.
The same (softened) lampreys were served.
Both have eaten well, I think.

Already pulling at the same lamprey.
