Balistar and Crissy, many thanks! :2thumbsup:

Yes, I think storklet number 3 will arrive this evening! :headroll:
Crissy, that GIF is great!
Balistar, you are right! It looks as if egg number 4 has a pip too!
20:39:48 I also saw chick number 3 moving inside its egg. :loveshower:
Egg number 4 has a lot of cracks, I think.

20:39:58 It seems to be a good pillow. :D

20:03:15 the storklet inside egg3 is moving, is working hard and
storklet (K1?) says "hello" in his way :slap:
Image

he pecked a few times on the part of the storklet which was out until Karl II saw it and gave the egg a little push :D

sooo cute :innocent:

This hatching is really exciting. I wonder if Karl II will get up again before it gets too dark.

EDIT: as soon as i wrote it, Karl II got up  Thank you, Karl II

storklets are begging, i think at the last feeding the food was a bit too far away or they haven't been hungry

21:22 Karl II serves again and the two storklets are eagerly pecking

21:23 both are eating

21:(21-23) Yes, another feeding. The hatching egg was a little in the way of the chicks.
But they have eaten.

It's a big pleasure to watch Karl II, he is so caring.
He was it also, who took the empty eggshells out of the nest bowl.
Now, when the storklets have eaten, one had a small bunch dry moss stuck on its beak,
father Karl II took it off :innocent:

oh, i think another up and down begins.....

21:29 Karl II up
21:30 down again
21:34 up
(for a moment i thought i see storklet 3 half out of the eggshell - but i am unsure !!)
21:35 down again

EDIT: Crissy, Anne, glad you saw it, too. Now i can be sure.
Thanks for the pictures

Crissy, I just wanted to write the same. :loveshower:
It is indeed half out of the eggshell, I think.

3 chicks hatched in 1 day!!!
Welcome, little one!
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

21:34:52 Karl II softly pushes one of the bigger chicks aside to give the hatchling a bit of space.
He is so clever!

It will soon be completely dark.

Hello everyone,

what a happy day! I couldn't recognize the third storklet when I scrolled back the stream, but surely it has hatched meanwhile.
So, be welcome, little storklets! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :loveshower:
Three in one day! That's surely a record.

Thank you so much, everyone, for the detailed, wonderful reports and pictures! I see the joy you've all had in reporting. It must have been great seeing all the events live. :D

I have some pictures of the feeding at 21:21
Karl II tries to regurgitate food, but it still needed some time.
The storklets are really strong! They are very lively and chirped a lot. :-)
Image

21:23 Karl II has offered some smaller black things. Probably again lampreys. Both storklets have eaten.
Look, how attentive Karl II observes his children. He is admirable. Whatever he does, he does it right. :-)
Image

21:24 The storklet on the left is swallowing one of the last pieces.

Liz, wasn't that a cute feeding session? They may have grabbed a few little bits but he kept watching them for a long time. I could certainly tell which was #3 - smaller and fell over a lot. Karl II is a bit clumsy with the storklets when he is moving the eggs. I heard cracking sounds awhile ago as if #4 is working.
That little sound they make is so funny; it turns on as soon as Karl II stands up. I remember when I first watched them do that as a parent returned with food two years ago. They bend over, flapping their wings and make that little honking/grunting sound and then dive in for the food. These little guys are already sounding healthy, but a little wobbly. He seems to try to put bits of food near them and then takes it back if they can't get it. That's one thing about storks that is so different from other nestlings - the parents puts the food on the ground and don't feed it to them individually.
