BIG BEAR

BB3 and BB4 are named:

COOKIE and SIMBA :innocent:

These are the 1st and 2nd place winning names of a contest selected by the Big Bear Valley 3rd graders.

BB3 = COOKIE
BB4 = SIMBA

EDIT 28.04.19: just to correct it (even if nobody is interested), it's vice versa:

BB3 = SIMBA
BB4 = COOKIE

and both yesterday crawled out of the nest bowl for the first time.
:2thumbsup: :laugh:

BIG BEAR

Today winter said hello for hopefully only 1 day at Big Bear's Lake and Bald Eagle nest:
At 04:28 it started snowing.

05:38 Jackie and the eaglets are already covered with snow
Image

06:06 she does her best to cover the meanwhile big grown eaglets
they don't fit anymore completely under her
Image

06:26 Jackie tries best she can - what a good Mom :2thumbsup:

:hi: thank you, Rita, I am glad if you liked it. That means a lot to me.

(i still watch the nest, but stopped posting, because i thought no one is interested anymore)

Yes, Shadow is extraordinary, he impressed and surprised us all.
If I could, I would give him the "best young dad and husband" award. :laugh:
It's been and it's still a great pleasure to watch this nest.

Big Bear

I'm worry about Cookie, he is very quiet and lethargic. The weather will be cold and wet again. I get memories to last season about the illness from the sibling from Stormy. :bow:
I really hope not, that it will repeated.

Gray skies all day, but Jackie and Shadow both brought fish to the chicks this morning and the chicks were fed, including a bit of a rainy dinner. Simba tried to eat one of the fish on his own, but didn't get very far before he decided the practice flapping instead. Now Simba and Cookie are both huddled in as much under Jackie as they can get to keep warm from the rain and snow.

Simba must have gotten the memo that around 6 weeks old bald eagle chicks will start feeding themselves. He made a stab at it. Jackie and Shadow are spending less time at the nest and less time feeding as a way to encourage the growing chicks to learn to feed themselves. Cookie didn't partake in this lunch, but he did eat earlier in the day and later.
