Iiris is getting the hang of the feeding process I think. But she still has a lot to learn. It's like she does not know at times where to put the food. :slap:

She has difficulties to feed her chick. Mostly she is too far away from it.Image

But at least the chick got some little fishmorsels. It would like to have some more, but Iiris stopped eating and feeding and walks around the nest...Image

The camera time is often not mentioned here when an event is described. Let's get back to that. Thank you!

Finally a large fish from Ivo. But what kind of cat and mouse game with the little chunks getting into the right mouth. The small head wobbles back and forth, but Iiris has learned to have patience to place the little pieces of fish in the beak. What worries me every time, Iiris walks around in the nest and the little chick has to take some kicks - my heart beats for fear. Ha, ha, Iiris now has its own feather propeller.

And please don't worry. This chick now needs very few, tiny pieces of fish a day. On the first day it is not even absolutely necessary. The day after tomorrow at the latest there will be no more complaints about the feeding. :D

18:37 Mom dropped an important stick on the chick's neck :slap:

In the morning, first feeding, she didn't come near him, She ate it alone.

I wish them better luck in the future

Congratulations! Ivo & Iiris!
:bounce: the chick is precious.

I’ve caught up on the posts and observations. Everyone is so happy for this Osprey family!
It is quite warm in Tartu, today. Earlier, I checked the temperature and it was 81°F - 27°C. I’m sure that it is cooling down now, but I can imagine that it’s very warm in the sunshine.
My observations, of the nest, has been that, Iiris is a very good mama. She has the right size fish bites, for her bobbing chick. The baby chick is very wobbly, right now, that will go away and the chick will make better contact with Iiris’s, beak. Also, the chick faces the wrong way, as we often see, when they are newborns. :D
Iiris, must be exhausted, but happily so. I think that she will be a great mom!
19:12. Ivo brought in a fish tail, for his family. Baby, is sleepy. 19:16 Ivo departed

Has anyone noticed a pip, in another egg, yet?

Thank you everyone for the comments and pics. Great that at last Ivo brought a fish and Iiris could eat herself and give some morsels to the kid. Practice makes perfect. :D

Thank you all for all the wonderful pictures and the comments.

Interesting to see that feeding is not as easy as humans think. Learning by doing !!! Surely they will succeed.
