i don't know - but i wouldn't be surprised because if you listen to the moment of falling, you can hear quite good, that there are bushes. They could have reduced the bounce enough to survive - and to be nursed in a zoo perhaps.
but of course a broken neck or being eaten in the night is possible as well.
*still waiting for an information of urmas, too.

btw, i didn't catch the moment: they were very much begging like looking forward to a feeding, but i couldn't see a feeding before or afterwards. just a visit or what was it ? a feeding before ?

It took almost three minutes for the storklets to realize that it was not a parent.
Then they went in defense against a conspecific. I think it was more of a verbal abuse. Go away .. or similar

Hmm, i know what you mea, but what i saw was begging for a long while, hearing something but not seeing another feather - and suddenly they were just calm again - without defense behaviour.
therefore i wondered...

Dear BS friends

Those dear storklets have had so much stress in their life - OFAF very often visiting the nest and GS to top it all. I'm worried about them.

I remembered that on the first page of Looduskalender there was an article in May on the search concerning the impact of the long-run stress on the offsprings of the European pied flycatchers (Ficedula hypoleuca). Unfortunately still in Estonian.
https://www.looduskalender.ee/n/node/3508

In short - the continuous stress has bad impact on both the organism and the functioning of the organs as well as on the growth and weight of the offsprings. The higher level of the stress hormone than usual suppresses the survival of the chicks.

Summi, thank you for that. I will read it!
Yesterday, that was absolutely abnormal stress for the little ones. It is conceivable that it influences their development. As we can see, they are still at high stress level as soon as something unusual happens.

I was also pretty shocked because it took so long. Usually it happens so fast that the chicks do not know what happened.

They thought that it would be better to drain the water, not to linger and get wet, and decided to wait so much for the rain while standing

Friends, tell me please, is it possible just for yourself how to pull a piece out of the video that was today? I would like to keep a piece of myself in the morning or if it is somewhere in YouTube, where it crawls on legs to lean on, it was very touching. But I do not know how to do it. If there is this information somewhere, forgive that repeated request.
