It is wonderful to see these pictures. I have not had time to watch the nest so often and I was already worried, if the babies have not had anything to eat. But fortunately some of us have been awake (not so happy for the insomnia), but it is good for us others. :loveshower:

Hello Chrissy,
I just tried GT as well cause I wanted to know if I was able to translate directly from the Estonian version (while waiting for Liis English version) and wondered what the text wanted to tell me . . . :rotf:
Thank you for helping me to understand :slap:

But there is still one sentence without any sense . . . :whistling:

Already for a month and a half, we've been following the development of nestlings. There has been worse and better times during the nestlife...
In the next 10 days, the storklets will be ringed and also something else will be going on, but lets wait until then.
Thank you very much, Crissy, for letting us know and your translation!

Jo UK wrote: June 30th, 2019, 3:30 pm Michi, I am sorry about your insomnia, but I am happy that you had insomnia and got those pictures. Fabulous. Thanks. :loveshower:
LOL!
I want to thank you all for your kind words about those pictures. :) It was a big pleasure to catch them.
Maybe someone can make a video from that part? Biker? Liz? In moving pictures (video) it is much more beautiful than in pics. The time was from 04:34 until about 04:36.

:hi:
so far i heard about the diet of BS:
mainly fish, frogs, and some others. I also saw a bird in this nest (for the storklets).
But it is also reported that Black Storks feed on others., in larger quantities. Although their usual diet is available.

After the breeding time the prefered diet composed of grasshoppers, beetles and the like.

There were no fish scraps in the pellets although the area is rich in fish and has suitable sites for catching.

Michi, i have a recording, will upload it

....
Biker

In 2018, we have seen these items at this nest (as far as I remember):
- fish: pike, common roach, perch, trout, lamprey, eel, stickleback ...
- amphibians: different species of frogs, salamanders...
- reptiles: common adder, lizard (Kati)
- decapods: Astacus astacus (Kati)
- mammals: rodents (young muskrats? short-tailed vole?) (Kati)
- birds: chicks (from waterfowl?) (Kati)
- worms: earthworms, leeches
- (water)beetles, ... (Kati)

Kati brings mostly frogs, sometimes fish and other food.
She brought a much more extensive range of food items than both Karls.

Karl I (and this year, also Karl II) brought mostly fish, sometimes frogs.

This list is certainly not exhaustive.

(Please complete/correct this list, if I made mistakes.)

July 1st
Hello, everyone
Visit :hi:

The stream is costantly interupted. It is windy.

Hasn't there been a feeding, so far? :puzzled:
The crops look rather empty.

Hello everybody :hi:

Biker, thank you for the recorded, rarely beautiful spectacle of nature.

Anne, thanks for the list of the food-items, quite an impressive variety.

Do others too have problems with the YT-stream, it breaks off all the time ?
EDIT: Anne, now i saw your post and my question is already answered.
