wing exercises in rain and hail? (by hail I'm not sure)
A spectacular 10 minutes indeed, qualifying for "high risk WE in hailstrom". Amazing how they manage with their wide wings on the ever narrower nest in that strong wind, and how they manage to climb out of peril at the left edge ...

Look at border between an instep and a beak, it is of different shapes.
The size and shape of the beak is also different but in different angles may be similar.
The first sign is more reliable.

9:23 Miks pooped. then he went to the nest. he "combed" Rika's head feathers.

10:02 Rika pulled Miks' feathers.

10:08 the eaglets looked in the sky... someone interesting flew there. then Milda called ka-kaa very short nearby. the eaglets continued looking in the sky at some who was flying there.
10:11 the eaglets were still looking up... Milda talked again.
- so i really heard an eagle's voice (it wasn't wind between my ears. )

11:16 Rika stretched her wings and leg and pushed Miks with her foot. this time Miks didn't mind, he only yawned.
- Rika has done so many tricks to Miks (even really bullied him) that i have felt sorry for Miks. that's the reason that i don't feel very sorry for Rika if Miks sometimes protests her tricks and shouts at Rika or even pecks her. :whistling:

11:20 Rika pooped.

11:46 Rika made WE and kicked Miks (practically jumped on his neck :slap: ).
this time Miks protested loud.
11:51 Rika made more WE & CE.

12:20 Rika made WE.
12:23 more.
12:25 more.

12:34 there was more WE.
13:03 another exercise period. Liz made videos of these. thank you!

13:29 a parent flew to the top branch.
13:31 the parent flew away over the meadow and vanished in the forest on the opposite side.
the tail was not visible but i guess that it could have been Milda. the ankles were not thin. (but on the other hand, the ankles of Raimis are not very thin either. but it's more likely that it was Milda than Raimis.

13:50 more.

15:23 Miks pooped. that's somewhat tricky in this wind, not easy.

15:29 Rika pooped. then she made WE.
15:31 more WE & CE by Rika. Miks tried to interfere by pulling Rika's wing feathers. Rika didn't seem to notice at all what Miks was doing. she was probably so excited about her exercise.
then Miks works with sticks.

15:35 Rika made WE. Miks worked with sticks. then both saw a bird in the sky and looked at it for quite a while...

(i have kept the pictures visible because they are important here. otherwise it is recommended tha pictures and videos are "made" invisible inside quotes, especially when the originals are on the same page.)
this is a good pair of pictures, Sonchik. thank you!
the colours on the beaks are different.
(but the beaks may sometimes be dirty, with fish scales or something else.)
is Rika on the top?

i have now added some descriptions to the morning videos. they begin here:

This nest is clearly too small for these two, to say the least :headroll:

i don't know why he cried. he was perhaps so excited about the exercise or the parent who perhaps was nearby.
[youtube]csYftoFgv4w[/ youtube]
Mika began to jump on the right branch at 5:52
At 8:45 Rika bites Mika for a wing.
At 9:25 Mika bites to Rika for the head.

Ajeta wrote: July 2nd, 2019, 3:10 pm Indeed, and did you not write the other day that Mika had yet to learn to eat on a branch and would then be able to lead an independent life? At 4:31 he is doing some practice "eating on a branch" (first level so to speak). :2thumbsup:
Initial level.
I just remembered how Robi and Vilnis dropped fish when ate on branches, having broken a nest.
