Solo, thank you for the daily update :2thumbsup:
I'm a bit surprised that Mares data are available during the breeding season.

The tragedy with Woodek, about it we already wrote on FB.
Here again. I am very unhappy about it.
And I'm angry because they are only interested in the transmitter. The bird does not matter

Yes, the attitude "Why regret about chicks, there are plenty of them!!!" is worst of all :banghead: These are experiments on the birds in fact.

1/ Liz, you're welcome :shake: (July 13 - 23: I am away, without internet  )
2/ me little too
3/ the responsible person of Woodek already long time isn't "our" polish BS expert P.Z.
I can not understand why the "new owners" aren't interested in knowing the reason/cause his death (if no in help  )

Hi, everyone! :hi: I`m with news from DD forum :book:
https://forums.dabasdati.lv/viewtopic.p ... 17#p227517

Image

Thanks to supporters, active work on nest inspection is now underway. We have received a short message from Maris Strazds about the black stork`s nesting after eight days of nest controls.

It looks like this is the worst year ever regarding the number of nests with offspring – such nests comprise certainly less than a half of all active nests. I have not yet calculated, how much less it may be. However, for successful nests the situation is very much like the last year, most sucessful (for the time being) nests have three chicks, which is a good number for the average. I have measured chicks in 14 nests. In only one of them the juveniles were clearly weak (possibly starving). In this case I suspect death of one (or both) adult bird. We checked also the previous webcam nest. It has partially fallen down during incubation time, remains of eggs were on the ground among remains of nest itself and the birds are gone. The possible cause of this nesting failure is of natural origin, there are no suspicion about human impact.

Oh, it was process in 3 steps: in basic done by Google Translator --> a little corrected by Made --> finally very much corrected by Maris Strazds himself, because languages are so different and the text should not be translated as word for word. (In my opinion, his latvian language is so rich and branched and absolutely different from neutral style, that it is very hard to translate by GT) :D

Let us hope that this situation is the worst and now it will begin to improve.

Good Morning Solo and all :hi:

Solo, our EEDI  Great news by Urmas :headroll:

Urmas wrote: July 16th, 2019, 6:24 am According the transmitter data Eedi was flying around there that time!
Eedi flew almost directly from its own nest to the camera nest 7,5km away. He was at his nest with tree chicks (counted during ringing time) for more as two hours before that trip.

BTW: Sorry, due to missing updates. I have very little time.

Question about Eedi :
It would be nice to know if the chicks are ringed (without transmitters) ? Is there any picture of him and his chicks?

Treia, But this question can only be answered by Urmas.
I would be interested for me too. They have determined rings. Transmitters are very expensive, so I think they will not have any. But pictures maybe :shake:

Liz, thanks for the answer! :D
So, all we have to do is hope that Urmas notices the question,
and answer us at some point.
