UM quickly gains altitude and flies and flies and flies - like a pro :2thumbsup:

He flew direction dead tree, his sisters followed his flight with their eyes, UM turned at dead tree and flew direction to the right high up to the forest.

UM, we are very happy and proud of you !!

balistar, thank you for the pics about UM preparing fro the maiden flight.
Extremely thorough preparation - never seen an osprey making a poop shot before the first take-off.
But it is a nice idea and should become a rule for all the ospreys. :whistling:
After that choosing the right direction by the sun where to fly and then shouting to the sisters: "Learn how to do it!" Extraordinarily smart guy he is!

Absolutely, that's what he is. All three, with their diverse characters, have given us so much fun so far. It is such a pleasure to watch them.

I'm wondering where our Owlie is and feel sorry for her if she would have missed the fledging of UM.

Bea, great video of UM's first landing attempt on the nest. UN was not very pleased :rotf:
After the misshapped landing on nest, UM decided to try it first on top of the big spruce tree and that was successful :2thumbsup:

BTW: i'm always so sorry for the poor fish, the teenies are not yet able to kill them quickly. The poor fish gets his face ripped off by UP while still alive :(

WOW - i would say: just perfect !! :2thumbsup:

From his high observation post on the top of the spruce, UM could see Mom feeding his sisters. That probably inspired and motivated him :rotf:
