Solo thank you very much for Mare's update.
And thanks for the link to the Poland map!
Your summary of the Polish transmitter Storks is similar to the Latvian ones. In the end, only Mare survived. That's very sad. Sad for us and also for the storks.

Liz, you're welcome - is nice to read not only own contributions
POLAND II
I read an article about another group of young black storks from PL (Silesian BS)- the same result
2017: "All fledglings (100%) with GPS satellite transmitters installed in 2017 were killed and not a single one survived a year." (predator, windstorm, WTE, goshawk, electrocution on unprotected electrical poles or in collision with overhead power lines, and one of them "in southern Italy ...most likely killed by man")
2018: "On 5 November 2018, seven young black storks are still alive in France, Serbia, Greece (2 individuals), in the
European part of Turkey and northern Israel (2 individuals)." ... One of the birds travels through Serbia and Albania to western Greece and Crete, where it made an unsuccessful attempt to fly over the Mediterranean Sea and disappeared there. (Päike )
now I saw on the map, that only one BS survived to this year (a year), but perished maybe on the rice fields in Turkey (not far from Greece border) on the end of July
after wintering on the another side the Bosporus flew back to rice fields where spend lot time in autumn

Liz Solo
I just read your sad summary about all the perished storklets
It seems that there are a lot of birds wearing transmitters. For our Estonian Black Storks we had to make a contribution and could only buy 3 transmitters due to the high price.
I wonder whether there a different transmitters which are cheaper or get the Polish and Latvian storks better support?

in Poland they have money from project(s) - one of them: http://bocianimy.pl/?page_id=123
and they have probably cheaper transmitters - their own = from Poland maybe (Ecotone Telemetry - https://en.ecotone.com.pl/produkty/-log ... -gsm-.html)
its nice to read you here
