Urmas is aware of Karula's battery situation. He even checked to make sure that the night-time switch off is actually working. Sometimes, odd things happen.
Urmas will talk to the manufacturer about it.

:hi: Thanks, Jo and Urmas.

But look at this! Surprise. :D
Is our little Karula on the move again?
Or just exploring the wider surroundings?

That's indeed a surprise! :D After such a long time Karula moved a bit to south, - to south west. Does he already feel the urge to migrate to south again? Last year he began his migration on August 16th.
When I see that at the last taken data on the tracker map Karula has a speed of 50 kilometers, he surely has moved on at least for a while. I'm curious where we will see him tomorrow.

Thank you for the data and pictures, Anne and Sova! :2thumbsup:

Two pics from Karulas last transmitted location near the town Düzağaç.

Karula is in the same area. Exploring the lake.
Image

His last known location is near the lake at Akdeğirmen.
Akdeğirmen is a village in the District of Sinanpaşa, Afyonkarahisar Province, Turkey.
There is a big dam on the lake.
Image

Fish seem to grow quite well, in that area.

But possibly I didn't understand the Turkish article so well. 8-)
"Four amateur fishermen went fishing in the Akdeğirmen Dam Lake.
They caught a carp measuring 1,35 m and weighing 41 kilograms."

Good evening everybody
Michi, Treia, aquiline :hi:

Anne, Michi ... thanks for the nice pictures
Anne, I think the fish get a lot of fertilizer that they grow so. With such carp we have to look very good, not that we suddenly get data from the water 8-)
Weather data is available and also cloud cover table. Now we (you) can always compare it ... maybe the problem is really only because of bad sunshine.

As soon as Aru and Oru appear on the Migration Map we shall be able to make tracker maps for them!

That carp - it looks to be longer than 1.35 metres. It is taller than the man who holds it.

I will try to summarise what Urmas told me about his conversation with Ornitela, about batteries.

"Probably there are a few different things affecting battery state. Diminishing of energy in battery during night can be caused by scheduled transmission in night time (in good network conditions one transmission needs energy of 25 GPS locations to take)
but if network is not so good, the needed energy per transmission is much higher. As Karula was in not good network since May and transmissions happened to be in night - everything accumulated and is visible in graphs like they are there."
Also, the battery will deteriorate with age but that is not yet a consideration.

Not a summary but a direct copy!

Except maybe if the shortest man in the village has been asked to hold the carp. Matter of impressing? :D

sova, when you first posted about clouds I thought it would help us to understand the battery state, but there are too many other factors to have an effect on it!
