:hi:
Aru has a transmitter. If s/he gets too weak to fly, it would be possible to locate and probably rescue him/her. Right?
Anyway, I'd still be optimistic.

I think feeding/searching for food is very probably not problem for him ... Summi, you maybe remember - Eedi (2015) started 9th of September and all was O.K.

Special thanks Biker for detailed and clear photos of the wound.

Thank you to everyone for the discussion, photos, videos, etc.
Aru is very fortunate to have such a hardworking, caring, energetic, and family-focused father. For us, as humans, Karl is an amazing example of steadfastness and self-sacrifice.

It reassures me, Jo, to know that Urmas and team are aware of the situation.
This is calming because I know that Urmas cares just as much or more than we do.

Yesterday between 14 - 14:55 Aru was flying around about 1-1,5 km of nest site, with speed 30-55 km/h.
Don't worry much about injury, that is normal if juveniles get small (and sometimes also fatal) injuries. Injuries belong to their life story and learning through own mistakes gives the best results. That was always so! You can remember your own or some next generations childhood...
Not normal would be the case if I'm going to the nest and chicks jump out and accordingly get injured or abandon nest too early. Or forest cutting would cause the same. During evolution that did not happen, only during very few last centuries.
So please think, how it could be naturally! And if process we see through webcam is natural, let's stay as observers only.

..........
Urmas, thank you very much for your opinion. :2thumbsup:

I'm sure Aru can do it

Basically, we have to accept what happens. That's how it should be.
I found a very young swallows chick 2 days ago. eyes were still closed, few feathers on the body. It was hungry and called loud. And I could not do anything. The nest is very high, I could not reach it. So I leave the chick under the nest. I know it died that night. It was cold an it rained a lot.
I did not feel good. But what should I do?

Urmas, thank you for informing us of your intentions. This is better than waiting for something that cannot be done (sorry for my English).

it is very difficult to accept the situation. But Urmas is right, of course. It's nature. It's evolution. It's life. Not always the person has the right to interfere not to make worse. Sorry Aru. There is less hope that he will be able to migrate and overcome these 6000 km. But we have nothing left. Just hope and wait. Thank you all for the wonderful photos, for comments. for the unforgettable moments of this nest
