And if I understand correctly what Mr Urmas wrote, the Aru did not eat yesterday, either. He flew around ....

Urmas, thank you very much for that. Finally an assessment from an expertUrmas wrote: ↑August 17th, 2019, 10:05 am Yesterday 10:38-12:27 Aru was flying around, not near the nest site, but some 4,5 km northwards, then 7,5 km southward of nest. Locations were taken in every ten minutes and there were only flight points to see, no one on ground.
We will see, but today the weather seems to be suitable for to start migration. Also Karl IIs behavior supports that, not feeding anymore.
There is nothing in the nature 100% sure to predict, only probability can be sometimes higher (if we have more knowledge and experience to forecast)! So unforeseen events or skewed behavior may happen if we are looking one or few individuals, but overall picture of population we can get through all information we have and if we know how to use that information.
Tracking of our few individuals gives hopefully some additional information, but we'd better not to diminish value of that information by our selves !
So Aru was flying far, but without searching for food. I'm glad he is able to fly more than a few km.

Thank you Urmas for informing us So we know that Aru can fly and since there have been pictures with muddy feet I assume that Aru is able to search for food and hopefully will find some frogs and fishes
Presently the nest ist empty

Flights in the morning:
09.02.30 departure
10.06.24 back in the nest
10.12.43-55, flew away, hit the right wing of the tree (it can be seen from a distance in a straight line in front of the nest) and immediately returned - uncertain landing ended in the old nest on the right 10.13.12 . https://ok.ru/video/1284896918142
10.15.43 fly away

thank you, Urmas for the informations.
yes, mother nature prepares "the way" that Aru has to take, (what is when to do), he will follow.
She builds a few hurdles (bigger ones and smaller, more or less, but for every living beings).
The curiosity is large, in every sense.
Therefore i once again looked more detailed, although yesterday there were already video and picture of this scene.
Aru with the beak in the wound.
muscles: they are not good to see but must be there.
...at least the pectoralis, which lowers the wing, and the supracoracoideus, which raises it.
down right: option to view in fullscreen modus

Hello, everyone.
Many thanks for all the info, observations and beautiful pictures!
I wonder if Aru will return to the nest.
If Karl II left, there is no reason for Aru to come home.
Today, our little Aru is 93 days old.
He/she fledged on July 23, 25 days ago.
The accident happened on August 6, 11 days ago.
Here are a few extra pics from this morning.

These are good distances, and he could see the feeding places, which means that sitting in the nest, today he had something to remember... somewhere to go. Only here is not very good aerodynamic characteristics are alarming... Thank you very much for the information. You urgently need a Secretary (i laugh) to facilitate your work... all the best to you!

I don't like it either. His flight and landing are inaccurate. All the more, that wound not one thing, and several. It would be better 716А lived in the zoo... if there is no other safe way out. The photo was posted above:

But maybe he starts today. Urmas wrote that weather is ideal for migration.

Gorgeous photos from this morning. Aru is such a photogenic model!
Once again, a big thank you to Urmas, for keeping us updated.
We all greatly appreciate it!
Let us wait and see. Aru’s natural instinct should guide him to make the right decision.

but there are no rehabilitation centers?
Now it is now fashionable contact zoos and ethnic villages - and in them Pets and birds + exotic llamas and peacocks, ostriches... a lot of visitors are brought by city children, tourists... you can live a village life with wells and baths... and who wants-dining room, Houses of culture. If there are rehabilitation centers, you can treat, feed, and in the spring it can fly away... in time, maybe 100 years from now, they'll stop being afraid of people ...
I have a link to the problem of black storks at the wildlife rehabilitation center : https://www.facebook.com/EcoHalychWildl ... 8905399417 maybe one day they will have more doomed Chicks and wounded storks will be able to find shelter there.

Tatiana, lets wait and see what will happen. I'm sure, Urmas knows what is to do, if it gets wrong with Aru.
Aru has an transmitter. That's good!
And I see, Aru can fly .. over 7,5km - that's great.
the hunger will show him, how to find food - if dad brings nothing. every storklet can do it, he too He is a great storklet.
It is forbidden to remove animals from the wild, if no important reason exists. that's the way it is in Germany. It can be like that in Estonia and Latvia too
