It is always nice when someone joins us!

Nice to hear it, Ari :innocent:

I often observe the current situation of storks here and in the nest. Many interesting things I learned about the life and survival of black storks.

Unfortunately I am a 'mute swan' :faint: and speak poorly English  literally I want to debate, but I am afraid of the interpretation of the translation
But I am happy to have the opportunity to read and see at least.
Kisses and hugs to all!

Anne7 wrote: August 17th, 2019, 2:39 pm Yes, I also prefer to know what happens to the storklets after they left the nest. Rather than being in the dark.
Following their migration is very interesting.

But, Ari, I can assure you that we also receive a lot of disturbing and sad news through the transmitters.
Last season, there were three hatched eggs, and all three storklets grew up healthily and started their migration.
We have followed the migration of these three storklets + their father (Karl the First), day after day.
Of these four Black Storks, only 1 is still alive.
Païke probably drowned when he tried to cross the Mediterranean from the Peloponnese.
Maru was shot by a poacher in Egypt. Moreover, at the autopsy, by a friendly Egyptian veterinarian, it appeared that Maru was infected with avian TB. Her transmitter was sent back to Estonia and is now being carried by Oru.
During spring migration, father Karl disappeared without a trace in Syria, close to the Jordan border. We do not know what happened to him. His transmitter stopped sending data and Karl did not come home.
Only our little Karula is still alive today. He remained in Israel for the winter, and is currently in Turkey for the summer months.
 Thanks to everyone for the updates, discussions, news, and beautiful photos!

Thanks Anne, and yes, I am so proud of our little Karula!
Following the stork-family last summer (with Abigyl, Anne, balistar, baska, Biker, chrisitz, Hellem, JoUK, Kuhankeittäjä, Liz01, Michi, pazi, raija, Solo Sova, Summi, UteL Urmas, and many others) was my first meet with BlackStorks, and perhaps that is why Karl's family felt and still feels so important to me. But of course, Aru and Oru are also important, and I wish them a good life and survival. Oru has flown nicely as far as Poland, 838 km. And I am so sorry because of Aru, but hopefully the wound will heal, and also she/he will soon be on his way to south!

I Join in all good wishes for Aru - light in the air.
Thank you all for the gorgeous photos throughout the season.
For your reverent attitude to all sad and joyful moments in this nest.

Thanks Urmas for the opportunity to watch the black stork live, for me it was the first such experience with this species of birds.
Thanks Urmas that we can now observe the movement of our storks around the world.

One more time from the previous photos. Suddenly they still will meet on the vastness of planet Earth.

:loveshower: what a day !!!!! We are worrying and thinking and discussing and meanwhile our Aru is already far away

So he must feel strong enough and without pain to start his way to the South. Let's hope that everything is fine and may he always have a safe flight :2thumbsup:

Thank you Jo and Anne for this wonderful picture

probably titmouse...

We still look into the empty nest, listen to the maximum sound of the speakers...

I would like to wish our Chicks, and Kati, and Karl, our neighbor Eedi, a wonderful winter and return to their native forest. And I wish all of us to have uninterrupted satellite communication, and also I wish health to all those who till next spring will draw to us coordinates of location of our birds...

dear aru,
they have been discussing a lot in this forum,
wether you can do it or not.
some say yes, others are not convinced.
only you know, what you can afford!
i wish you a quiet journey
and don‘t hurry.
take time to hale your wing
and find to eat nice things
some in the neibourhoud
show you what is good
take care in the night
obstacles maybe high
we wish you all the very best
to see you back in karla forest
