It's a bit puzzling. Each data point shows 0mph speeed, yet the location and altitude varies. Of course, we don't know what Karla is doing in between data points - obviously moving around, though.

There is currently very little data coming in for Karula.
Probably there is a poor GPS connection.
The battery level is also not optimal. (The battery no longer charges to 100%.)
A combination of cloudiness + poor connection?

Today, our little ORU was a little indecisive.

First, he flew from the little reserve “Rezerwat przyrody Warzewo”, in Poland, to Grabovka, in Belarus.
Then he flew back to the little reserve in Poland.
A little later, he decided to return to Belarus, near Damačava.

exactly the same i was thinking when i saw your first picture
and i thought it took Aru very long to fill his stomach resp. to learn how to catch the food.
Learning by doing, hopefully with the needed good success.

Once again, we can gauge the size and scope of the tasks facing them once they have left the nest. And that's just one of them.

Aru shows stamina in it and I firmly believe that s/he is under a good star and with many eyes that accompany her/him on her/his way

Bibibu, if you leave the camera on you are likely to see who visits the nest, now that it is empty! Probably no more black storks, but other visitors.

We can train it in little steps - 1st day 1 hour camera off, 2nd day 2 hours camera off, 3rd day... - and in some cases of emergency you will find e.g. still an osprey in the nest or a fish in the fishcam

Interessting that all three storks Oru, Aru, Eedi have in nearly the same time not flown ahead further but something like a rest.

(It remembered me to the information, i had heard some months ago, that the magnetic pols are moving and even could change again one day in the future (far away enough, i think ;) - and the question, what that will mean for the migration. *just a thought besides*)

i just looked to the date/time written at "name" (UTC) - think the date/time which is sent by the transmitter is the one written at Date/Time below (UTC+3), isn't it ?
