I understood that Urmas took DNA samples when he did the ringing
and that the tests take months to complete... :puzzled:
I think we are still waiting.
Ari19, thanks! and -we are all eager about the DNA results for Aru & Oru's gender ))

Anna 7,
thanks for the rare info about Karl II - 'last seen on the nest on 15.08.2019' - and the Chart here!
Hope to hear some news of Karl's II location, later on. Because, with his family 2019, I started observing birds online!
By the way, I saw some forum people here have written about Aru - "she"!
I mean, we have our own 'feeling' about the storklets' gender, already)). As to me, I think about Aru as a boy )))

welcome to the forum olga

Karl II has no ring and no transponder. when he is away from the nest, we do not know his actual place. we can only hope, he will be back on 2020.

It was a dramatic summer for stork family, quite a story.

I wish both young storks safe passage to wherever they chose to fly. It would be nice to see them again, some day in the future.

Hello :hi:

Dear friends, do you also keep watching the nest hoping to see someone landing?

Anne, thank you for the chart waiting to be completed only by the genders.
It's interesting to compare the storklets from 4 seasons in this nest.

I think that's the right diagnosis :puzzled:
Neither i can see this empty nest, - it is so .. empty - nor rummage through any archive files.
only sometimes I look in here.

Good Morning :hi:

Someone wrote (do not remember who) that Aru has given us a feather there as a farewell.
Well, the feather is still there. So, nest is not empty ....

Biker .... I know the feeling very well.
But as long as the two (and Karula too) fly and we can see (from the map) that they are fine, that compensates that we now have empty nest.

Certainly also with oru, Karl II, Kati, Karula, Mare, and all our beloved storks and we will never forget all those we lost. I still miss them!
Oh yes, that's my thoughts too.

I was looking through my archive and found images from 08/10, the day Oru flew away.
They were so tender to each other...

Here is a video of them teasing each other that morning:

Ari, thank you for bringing up the lovely pics of Aru-Oru, a pair having the strongest love-bond between storklet siblings that always made you smile.

After Aru left, I watched the nest - fearing that Aru is back. Now I do not watch anymore.

Sova, great that there is still someone keeping an eye on the nest and you sharing the picture of the property manager taking care of its being in good order. We have to admit that the squirrel is exceptionally beautiful. :loveshower:
