I've no time for that in the moment.. I will soon go to the sea. See you later
does Mare show up on birdmap? thank you.

Michi, Very kind of you to upload such great maps here! :2thumbsup: Great to see that Aru and Oru are able to find nice places to stay. (I could only follow their migration on the simple birdmap.)

MARE is young adult female BS from Latvia (hatched 2016 - 3cy), she hadn't data on birdmap

map 1: usually here - http://www.goris.lv/mare-2017/ (now working not)
map 2: a little harder to access - https://www.movebank.org/panel_embedded_movebank_webapp

Satellite photo must be older, it seems that GSV captured a pond there.
Maybe, the pond attracted Aru?

Wow, that's nice to see! :D
It does not happen very often that we have a SV so close to the location.
(Such a pity that the birch tree is right in front of our little Aru. )

Good evening everyone,

ARU
Image

The tracker map has shown that Aru is not only walking. There are several routes on the map he has flown. So it seems not an insolvable problem for him to start flying from the ground.
At this point Aru has had an enormous speed of 74 km/h. :)
Image

Arus last position in the tracker map at 20:50 (UTC+3). It looks like he is on a small hill, which has no trees. But, of course, it's possible that Aru flew to another place later. At nest he hasn't sleep at that early hour. :D

Thank you all for todays interesting pictures from our storklets surroundings, maps and informations!

Olga :hi:, it was a pleasure. But we all have "only" the birdmap (and of course the tracker maps) as cards about the storklets routes. Both cards are really great, and both are highly welcome, important and indispensable.
When I use Google Earth I put the current location of the storklets manually on the map,- kind of "handmade". :)

BTW: The only way I could show your quote here was with a little trick. If you want to put your own text under a quote (and you should do so), you have to write the text outside of the word "
", i.e. afterwards.

That IS what I appreciate, Michi), and also the info about 'Google Earth' (I haven't heard).
Many thanks for your nice advice, now I see - I was not carefull with the last quotation mark
(which irritated me a lot :dunno: ))). :D

Aru takes his time)) - flies 1 km a day  Everything is new and amazing: new ponds, a lot of food (at last!! :D ). And the wounded wing is getting better.
But isn't it alarming if Aru should want to stay where he is?
Is he/she going to fly further to the south..? Will he have time before the cold?

We know a Storklet from Latvia. After her departure from the nest she was for a long time in Latvia. she is still alive :2thumbsup: ..and the only one we know. It is Mare. I think it's a good idea to stay longer. Cold is not bad. Only frost, because there the small brooks and ponds freeze.

I think it's not bad if he does not travel until September.. late September :-)

As Liz wrote, the BS start later as white storks and they stay on refilling places long time in Europe (obviously more south) - see also the map with Poland storklets hatched this year where they are - here:
