Still waiting for Karula's data to be ready. Maybe it is late, or perhaps this is another of those failed days?
Try again in 10 minutes -
No new data today. Next data expected tomorrow.

Thank you, Anne7, you, as always, give meaningful information. It was very interesting and encouraging. The temperature does not fall below 21 degrees (body temperature + ambient air), but still there is no summer heat. Perhaps this should encourage Aru to fly South. The good news is that all of its turns on all axes are bright, so it's actively moving, though not very to the South... Thank you for the information and your work.

About the temperature display. It cannot be the body temperature of the bird. 21C is much too low. A bird's body temperaure is said to be 37C to 40C. There has to be another way to interpret these values.

Jo :hi: , as I mentioned here: viewtopic.php?p=693602#p693602

The temperature measured by the transmitter is not the bird's body temperature, neither the ambient temperature.
It is the temperature of the transmitter (measured inside the transmitter), and is therefore determined by: the ambient temperature + (eventual) direct exposure to sun rays (radiant heat) + the body temperature of the bird.

If the ambient temperature is 20° and the bird has a normal body temperature of 40°, the temperature in the transmitter will be in between.
If the bird (the transmitter) is exposed to direct sun radiation, the temperature of the transmitter can become very high.
And when a bird perished, the temperature of the transmitter will drop much more at night than usual. (It takes the ambient temperature and is no longer heated by the bird's body.)

ARU's current area.
It looks as if Aru found a nice area. I wonder if s/he will stay here for a while.

Hello everyone,

Some pictures from ARUs positions on 15.09.2019.

The locations of the feeding places I've taken from Anne's first picture in this post (and from the tracker map):
viewtopic.php?p=693637#p693637

All pictures have view to south. Here the viewing height is 7,28 km.
Image

Viewing height is 1,69 km.
Image

In feeding place 2 ARU was on the edge of a small brook.
Viewing height is 768 m.
Image

It's indeed a nice looking area. Aru has of course good eyes to check the landscape before he lands. :D
Many thanks to all for todays beautiful pictures of the area, informations, tracker maps and cards.
I‘m very glad that Oru flies again.

Good Morning! :hi:

I was so glad to see that the 2 kids are now at the same level (approx). Like last year, each is choosing his own way.
Let's hope both will arrive to good places with food and fresh water.

I am very worried about Eedi and hope he won't go to Saudi Arabia with all the flames of oil fields.
