Little Oru is still in the same area.
He didn't fly a lot.
Today's route:
Feeding area 1. I wonder what he found on that specific spot in the field?
Feeding area 2:

Hello, everyone
Karula is still at Lake Eber. He's here for 12 days already.
I read some disturbing, very recent news about Lake Eber, in this article:
24.09.2019 10:35
Reed fire in Lake Eber
"... Eber Lake has recently several reed fires. The reed, of which people make their living in the region, is, according to what people say, deliberately put on fire because of internal competition.
A reed worker who does not want to be named, says: "... The reed is set on fire due to rivalry. The purpose of the arsonists is to prevent and discourage the gain of competing opponents. The smoke completely covers the lake and all residential areas. Those involved in such events should be discouraged and punished."

Karula, what are you doing there? It's time to move on!
Thanks, JoJo UK wrote: ↑September 29th, 2019, 4:15 pm Tracker Map

Ari19 wrote: ↑September 28th, 2019, 2:42 pm I can see what you mean Liz. My initial thought was concerning problems similar to the fate of Karl I.
War zones, electronics poaching, etc.
On the other hand, the tracker maps might be providing ornithologists important information concerning the life patterns of the birds. In a sense, "our birds" are part of an experiment. Their routes reveal much previously unknown info about the habits, life processes, and needs of the birds.
Is it a danger to the birds themselves? To a certain degree, yes. But the benefit is great too.
It helps the entire species. Plus, a bird's life is inherently dangerous, even without a tracker.
I have long considered what I answer. When I see what actual happened on the fish ponds in Israel, then I know that nothing has changed in 10 years. Black storks and other birds die or injure themselves very heavily on the nets that are stretched over the ponds. A bad trap for all birds.
Israel is an important place for migratory birds. Everybody knows - nothing changes!
Experts know what black stork needs to breed successfully. They know it for years- nothing changes. Quite the contrary! the conditions are getting worse and worse.
I ask myself when will collected data and facts bring success for the birds? Probably never, when it comes to money, the need of our wild animals is unimportant! Forests are cut down, swamps are drained...
Yesterday I read in the Baltic newspaper that in a nature reserve where rare birds breed, 550 holiday homes are to be built. It is the Wustrow peninsula. I'm really horrified.

Liz, that's all is true . Our knowledge is growing, but knowledge-based activities are lagging behind (if any exist at all). Unfortunately, environmental protection is not one of the priorities of politicians and also for very much citizens still isn't.

good evening everybody
Jo, thanks for the card
Anne, weather data is available.
Soot particles can accumulate on the Karul's transmitter, which would explain why the battery is not fully charged. So that, Karula is constantly on the ground (shadow) .... would also be an explanation

Oh no, what bad news! Yes, Karula should fly on. Why does he still stay there?
Thank you, Anne and everyone, for the updates and reports!

Anne, how recent is the smoke on the lake? Was it a temporary event?
