Obviously battery is fading more and more.

kuhankeittäjä  do you have any explanation and what can be done?
The transmitter was positioned left side downwards, not enough in the Sun. In cloudy days its charging level was left behind. However, now it is in normal position again. Let's hope the best.

Based on data, it seems to me that Oru is not any more in the same place where it died. The field workers should be interviewed to have more precise information.

I sent a message to Anne and plan to return to the forum earliest on Tuesday evening.

:hi:

Perhaps Oru's transmitter cannot be found because it may be very far from the last coordinates, even in Syria.

19.5 km .... WAU  .... Karula is now really cocky!
Maybe he would have to fly a bit because he has certainly already got flippers. :D

Hello, Asteria, :hi:

Unfortunately, these are not the graphs of a storklet that flew to Syria (or elsewhere) after 12.10

Image

The solar panel didn't catch any sunlight, since 12.10.

The latest known battery level is 35% (on 19.10).
The battery level will probably have fallen below 25-30% at the moment. We have not received any new data since 19.10.

Thanks for the weather report, Sova :hi:
It's getting a bit colder at Lake Eber.
Karula will have to leave that area, sooner or later. He can't stay there all winter.

Hello, Sova :hi:
Thanks!

Hmm... if it doesn't get too cold at Lake Eber, Karula may stay there until the beginning of December.
Who knows.

No problem, Jo :hi:
Anne :hi:

Here's pretty much * quiet *, we can float in reminiscences.
I have clicked Maru's last known position again and found some pictures of Jan. 2019. I do not know, if we have already posted it.

By now there were three teams looking for Oru in last location we have GPS data. They also had a look around on fields, asked local people about. But there is dense and high vegetation on both sides of canal and in canal. Local main furry predator is Egyptian Mongoose (Herpestes ichneumon) digging burrows in canal sides.
One team even used dog trained for bird survey, but dog was very much interested in those burrows. No even feathers was found. But in 19th noon there was some light visible on graph, charging short time the battery. It was of course not enough to affect the battery. Same time it means device is not in full darkness, in burrow for example.
Will wait for kuhankeittäjä opinion, before produce mine.

Thanks for the information, Urmas!

It is a pity that even a tracking dog has found nothing. Oru's body is clearly well hidden.

Many thanks to all the teams that went searching!

Edit: I looked up the "Egyptian Mongoose". An impressive predator!

Mr. Urmas, Thanks for the info. I'll say it right now; could it be that the transmitter was stolen?
Also from my side; Thanks to all who helped
