Ame - Liz and your BOOKS
There is a very popular page of the "Israeli Ringing Center" which is bringing photos and info about Migrating birds with rings (Liz knows them).
There is very interesting information there.
Yesterday they showed some pictures of a cute eaglet, they weren't sure if it's GSE or LSE.
The ring is from a nest in northeastern Poland 7/2019 ! .
The moderator wrote (GT):
"To all undecided, this eagle is a cross between LSE and GSE.
Natural and common condition in Eastern Europe."
Do you know about such a situation? What about WTE ? Is it possible?
Last month they had a Finnish Crane, who was ringed in Helsinki 1999 (20 Years old!).

I read many times (including here) that these eagles are related genetically and often have mixed pairs and offspring. Very few "clean" species remain. For example Tõnn. viewtopic.php?p=639188#p639188
Who should WTE mix with? With white-headed eagles? These branches split millions of years ago. Who knows if mixing is possible.
At 7:52 an eagle voice was heard. Video of Raimis 'voice and visit at 7:56.

this is an interesting question. bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) and WTE H. albicilla are "cousins" but i don't know if they are genetically close enough to be able to breed together. geographically they live too far from each other so i believe that they don't meet in nature. maybe in Greenland?
adult H. albicilla and H. leucocephalus look so very different that i would think that if they met in nature they would see each other as too alien to even think about breeding together.
who knows what would happen if someone would raise eaglets of H. albicilla and H. leucocephalus in captivity in the same aviary. the young eaglets look very similar and if they saw each other growing up they might accept each other as partners. i don't know if anyone has ever tried this. it certainly would be considered unethical in 'official' zoos.
i also looked up the members in the Haliaeetus family. the other members look too different from H. albicilla in my eyes that i don't believe that they could mix with WTE.

16:23:46 someone dropped a poop from upstairs!
16:24 a nuthatch visited. she flew upstairs first so there could not be any scary bird.
16:24:32 a fairly big bird flew away from the top. a crow?
i guess that this bird made the shot.
16:22:55 there were soft sounds of wings. that's possibly when the bird flew to the top.

7:24 a pygmy owl whistles
just beautiful
I have an appointment at 9:00, then I'm going back to Berlin. I saw no eagle. But I saw a white buzzard, silver and gray heron, cormorant, whooper swans with their juvenile (which are only in winter with us) and many other birds. I took a lot of pictures.
I'm here again in December-January. I will find my eagles.

I was next to the door on my way out and heard the landing.

very dark clouds are crawling over the forest on the right. it looks as if the bottom of the clouds is dragging on the trees.

9:52 a great tit. then three great tits!
the Left Sister holds on to her leaves.
(i nowadays have started to think of the big oaks in the centre as the Three Sisters. in the beginning, in 2015, the Third Sister was the Parent's Oak on the left of the Second Sister with leaves. a lightning bolt destroyed that oak in 2015. the remaining two stumps are slowly becoming difficult to see against the background. the two oaks remaining now under the poop branch are the Two Sisters. i hope this is not confusing... )
then two of them stayed a little longer.
Liz, white buzzard?
leucistic? that must have been a sight!

13:24 a squirrel.
13:26 two squirrels!
the squirrel on the right looks bigger but the difference may be due to the difference in their distances from the camera,
this is a real situation, not copy-paste!

14:53 Milda flew in. she came empty-handed.
she was looking around... after a while Raimis flew from the meadow from about the centre to the left ...
14:54 Raimis came, too. he brought some hay.
14:56 Milda flew out, after jumping to the left branch.
Raimis does not know what to do now.
