17:52:12 a very short eagle's voice.
they are not doing it. are they already such an old couple that they don't do it for fun all the time?
17:55:45 a pygmy owl whistled.

17:57:20 again.
17:59:10 again.
18:03 again at a short distance. there is something wrong with the recording.

Thank you for your time on this research.
So in fact this couple this winter only had a pause on 28 days where singing duets did not occur on the microphone.
I will myself try to find when they started to sing in the autum.
And keep an ear on when they stop here in spring during breeding.
Thanks to all people in here creating this diary/kalender around this nest.
Jan 1st at 13:47 they sang nearby.
Jan 29 at 11:57 both sang together, a bit farther

i listed quite a few songs in December starting from Dec 20th which was the last song you had heard. i can go back and look for more. just a min....
did you see these :
Nov 4 at 11:21 a male and a female called together in the forest, probably Raimis and Milda. this is a bit dubious. there was a stranger in the forest at that time. it is possible that the eagles called because of that.
later at 13:10 an male and a female called together, probably Raimis and Milda. they were rather far.
at 13:13 they called again.
Nov 20 at 8:12 (near 8:13)
Nov 28 10:33 and at 10:371
Dec 13 at 9:01
Dec 19 at 12:09
Dec 20 at 11:09
the beginning of November was active nest building time and October was even more so i think (i haven't counted the sticks yet). i wouldn't say that there was a song break, but they certainly seem to have sung less often than last year. i haven't counted the songs yet, however. i'll do that sometime later.
good night!

i searched back in time till the beginning of November.ame wrote: ↑February 14th, 2020, 3:51 pm Per asked in the YT chat when the eagles have been heard singing in the past few weeks. i looked up the dates and times. i'll post the list here, too, in correct order. i have uploaded and posted all these recordings in the forum on the appropriate dates.
Dec 20 at 8:07 Raimis and Milda sang together. it was still fairly dark.
Dec 25 at 10:56 Raimis and Milda sang together not very near.
Dec 29 at 15:32 Raimis was on the nest and Milda in the forest. they talked to each other, but that was not a duet. it was conversation.
later the same morning at 15:33 they had more conversation outside in the forest. it was not a duet song. there was a stranger in the forest and they were chasing the stranger away.
Dec 31 at 13:11 both sang together rather far. the wind was also noisy and probably carried the voices partly away.
Jan 1st at 13:47 they sang nearby.
Jan 29 at 11:57 both sang together, a bit farther this time.
Feb 4 at 9:27 there was a stranger visiting. Raimis and Milda called at the stranger together. this was not singing together as we think about it.
yesterday morning Feb 13 they sang rather far at 8:29. later at 8:36 Raimis sang the mating song. that was not near either. probably the same place as the song.

Good Morning!
thank you for reporting. ame, thanks for the timeline, when our eagles sang together and for what reason. It's very interesting (I've read it in the chat too)
6:30 It's still dark. A dog is barking now and then
6:48 a pygmy owl is calling (or a tawny owl female?)
7:24 the nest is ready

good morning!
thank you for the reports, Liz!
we'll have to keep an eye on Milda's tail to see if that spot really is new or an old spot in an unusual place.
i'm afraid that Per did not read all the list of calls. he seems to believe that there was a break in December. there was not.
7:29 an eagle called rather near. i think this was Milda's voice.
