I must admit that I've also been thinking about Iiris. :D

I tried to find good close-ups from last year, but the archive is not yet active again. I had to take pictures from my PC, but I didn't find that many.

I am not completely convinced yet. But Sunshine has some good arguments...

Very nice! This is a crucial area that is very helpful for comparing.

Yes, Mogga, I’ll find pictures now, so it will be easier for us to compare.

Owlie wrote: April 7th, 2020, 9:03 pm I wonder about the dark/black spot on this evening's osprey's forehead - in last year pictures Iiris did not have that deep and dark spot on her head. Iiris' head had more stripes, not such a covering dark spot ...
 Owlie, the trouble is this year's blurry focus of the camera.. It would have been so much easier to compare the stripes and patterns, had the focus been sharp.

Yet it is not, and we have to take into account that that also distorts the picture. It can be that were we saw clear black stripes last year, now it is all blurred in one darker spot.

One cannot exactly compare a picture that is very sharp and one that is blurred. :faint: Hopefully the camera will be re-adjusted. But we can see the differences/similarities in general aspects. Like, noticing here or there a brighter area, some stripes, overall shape and look etc.

All in all, ospreys are not all so similar at all, as it may at first seem  And the overall look of the osprey, also from the picture earlier with the slightly bent head, looking down at the nest.. It is so similar and it seems to be the same osprey, Iiris!

Also, even though strange ospreys sometimes do visit and land on the nest, on average, the probability is quite large that exactly the owner returns to his/her nest. If she then rather quickly accepts Ivo, we will know for sure 8-)

And the latest photos for today. Compare the unknown osprey that flew in the evening, at 16:36.
It is hard to say, the bird at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. is the same or different. There are similarities with Iiris. What do you think?

And Iiris.

There are similarities. But I have very few photos of an unknown osprey to say with confidence that this is Iiris. Need to wait tomorrow.

From looking at all of the pictures posted, I do believe that this is our Mama IIRIS!
:loveshower:
I had a feeling that she might return from migration early. :D
Or, at least I had high hopes.

Happy Spring and Happy Easter, everyone!

April 8th
6:24am. IIRIS landed on the nest then jumped up onto the cam stand.
I think that she is looking for her IVO.
Hurry back home.

7:40 the male Osprey brought a fish to the nest to entice Iiris, but she was not impressed. :whistling:
Iiris is concentrating on calling alerts.
