He wanted to place the branch to the right of the female, but couldn't find a way around her:
Image

So when the female refused to move an inch, he just walked onto her:
Image

He took his time while still standing on her back:

There you go! Mission accomplished:

A minute or so later, he finally persuaded her to get up:

She hopped onto her perch:

She was still there at 20:32:

And then she departed at 20:34:

7 April

La hembra came back at 10:18:
Image

They seem never to come to the nest empty-beaked - this time she brought some moss (and soft soil to use as a cushion?):
Image

El macho got up, and the pair examined the egg:

The male took off without undue delay:
Image

La hembra resumed incubation duties with passion - flat on the nest floor, with her neck bent up and head rested on a stick, she looks here like the most faithful of all faithful dogs:
Image

El macho came back with another unwieldy branch at 10:21:35 and left at 10:23:02:

In the afternoon, the female had to endure the stress of another unsolicited visit - she reacts very differently (bristling all over, raising the tail, extending both wings and getting to her feet) to incoming strangers than to el macho:
Image

Again, she came close to stepping on the egg, but the talons of her right foot only shaved it:
Image

She slowly got back down on the egg, using her feathers to let the vagrants know what she thinks of them:

Thankfully, this party didn't last long:
Image

An afternoon peak of activity usually occurs at this nest after 5 pm, and el macho didn't disappoint:
Image

He got the female off the egg, revealing a piece of something green (plastic string?) :puzzled:

The female perched on the branch in the rain:
Image

Then the stream crashed several times.

Just before 7 pm, the male was up on the branch, and the female back on the egg:
Image

Danger! La hembra is doing another vuelta over el huevo. Fortunately, she withdrew the foot in midstep...:

La hembra and el huevo in the morning mist:

The right wing goes out, but this is just stretching:

The incubation relay baton is passed to the male:

These two certainly see beak to beak:

The female is back in a couple of minutes with more nest material:

Though the stream kept crashing today more often than not, it's clearly the male in charge of the egg in the afternoon
Image

4:15 pm - the scare of the day so far:
El macho raises his tail in preparation for a foreign threat:
Image

Then he gets up, his tail raised all the time, bristles and lowers the wings:

The threat does not enter into cam view, but the male maintains the posture:
Image

Then he resumes incubation. It's an unusually quiet afternoon:
Image

No female, no strangers, even the YT chat, usually rather crowded, has gone dead:

9 April

When the stream resumes in the morning, it's not easy to tell who is in the nest:
Image

The stream goes off and on, and off, and on... But it seems that it's the same bird all the time:
Image

At 8:25 the identity of the adult becomes clear:

The stream becomes stable in the early afternoon. The male is synonymous with stability today, too:
Image

He's up against the elements again - it's very wet out there:
Image

Every now and then el macho gets up, does some exercise, retires to the rim to empty the bowels, exercises again, takes a few steps around the egg, rolls it, and lies down:

Then fog descends:
Image

Is there any chance of nest relief tonight?

If the weather stays like this, the answer is probably 'no':

This is just exercise (but the male's right foot glances off the egg yet again):

These breaks are coming at relatively short intervals now:

Back to incubation:
