I think the hole is too small for the starling to get in. A starling tried to get in also in the beginning of the transmission season.

Felis,I remember the starling camera, where two different starlings always removed the other's eggs.
Ultimately there was no brood.

Good morning!

The starling tried to have a look again, but it really seems the hole is too small.
I think this is a newly made nest box at the old place, because the noises one sometimes can hear from outside seem to be the same. In the old box we had a lot of drama over the years, great tit sleeping inside and starting to lay eggs, wryneck throwing them all out, woodpecker making the hole bigger and wintering inside, starlings fighting and throwing out eggs, but also raising their chicks and last year chicks being taken out by a marten. I hope this great tit will have a peaceful nesting time inside and all her chicks leave the nest in due course of time.
