Good evening, everyone!

Many thanks, Jo, Anne and Sova, for the maps, pictures and data! :2thumbsup:

With my first look at today's trackermap I got a big fright. I thought Karula had flown over the Gulf of Riga. Luckily this was a mistake. It was "only" Pärnu Bay. I was pretty relieved. :D

All positions that Karula had in Estonia, are marked.

Here Karula has flown over Pärnu Bay.

I don't know how you all feel, but I'm a little disappointed that Karula has already left ... but who knows, maybe he'll change his mind. :D
I'm a little disappointed too, Sova. It feels like we've been abandoned. :D
But with Karula you never know. The summer is still long ...

A nice evening to you, too!

Hello Sova and Michi
Little disappointed feelings here too… why didn't he fly to Karula forest?
Didn't he find the right air-route there, or toured he his homeforest with a firm intention?
Probably on purpose, but hopefully he will still circulates back to Estonia!

Our Karula crossed the Pärnu Bay around 13:00. Full speed!
Karula is a very very quick :chick: But the wind blew from the North, perhaps it was more fun to fly southwards to Latvia than to stay in Estonia. :headroll:

Many thanks to everybody for all the info, the maps and the pictures :loveshower:

Hello everyone

Michi, many thanks for the Google Earth views.

Thanks, Jo! :hi:

Today Karula explored a bit more of Latvia. :D

He is currently south of Meņģele.

This morning, Karula started to travel around 09:15
Image

First he flew to the southeast.
When he was almost at the Russian border, he changed direction and continued southwest

Then Karula reached the Meņģele area, Ogre Municipality, Latvia.

"Ogre Municipality (Latvian: Ogres novads) is a municipality in Vidzeme, Latvia. The municipality was formed in 2002 by merging Ogre town and Ogresgals Parish. In 2009 it absorbed Krape Parish, Ķeipene Parish, Laubere Parish, Madliena Parish, Mazozoli Parish, Meņģele Parish, Suntaži Parish and Taurupe Parish, the administrative centre being Ogre."

Thank you, Juta. :hi:
I wonder where Karula is hiding this time. :puzzled:

I wouldn’t be surprised if he returned to his favourite location at the Vēždūka stream.

Well, it gives us a free evening. 8-)

May 25th

Hello

Hurray! We have new data! :headroll:

I will make 3 tracker maps.

TRACKER MAP
Karula_May23
https://www.google.com/maps/d/drive?sta ... sp=sharing

It is as I thought: Karula flew back to his favourite location at the Vēždūka stream. :D

On May 23, Karula flew 244 km and is back in 'his' forest.
What a sense of direction!
He managed to find that place without any hesitation.

TRACKER MAP
Karula_May24
https://www.google.com/maps/d/drive?sta ... sp=sharing

Bad weather on May 24th? Rain?
Yesterday, May 24, Karula had a restday and flew only small distances.

Image

This seems to be an excellent feeding place. :D

Edit - some changes have been made to this map to protect Karula's location. It can be shown on the next available tracker map. - Jo

Edit 2 - Thanks, Jo! This is indeed safer. - Anne

TRACKER MAP
Karula_May25

Apparently we didn't receive data for today? :puzzled:
That's weird.
Last shown data on the tracker map: 2020-05-24 in the evening, around 22:08:04 (UTC+3)

I try again...
Edit: no data for today.

Edit 2: We know that the connection in that forest isn't very good, so possibly the connection broke off, while Karula's transmitter was sending data.
