Black kites!

08.21 Gray brought the first breakfast from the meat factory
09.30 Lunch. Also a piece of meat.
10.23 Golda with fish
11.13.53 Big rat
11.42 Gray came to the nest. Obviously hungry, but only looked up a little from the rat when Gold burst into the nest. Scandal!
14.55 Golda brought a frog. But the children did not want to eat. Flew away with a frog
15.08 Event. Golda brought a mouse. The elder swallowed almost the entire mouse!

Black Kites

I used to think the nest was getting too small
But no, it fits just fine.
Even wing flapping becomes possible

This family is so peaceful.
No aggression, all who are hungry get to eat
...feeding by Golda 18:06

Golda loves it in the midst of her kids,
they snuggle up around her.

Today there is thick air in the nest... :whistling:
Never seen here in this peaceful atmosphere...
It began with a fish, brought by Gray...at 10:36/37

Video shows the whole action

and it goes on,
11:52 Golda with prey, new agression starts :slap:
The elder doesn't want the siblings becomes to eat.

11:54 Golda gives up the feeding (fish)
Image

None of the siblings shows a defeated Pose, and so goes on

The cause of the change is sure the day of the ringing yesterday, seems so for me.
Parents came very late and without any food.

...Next try
12:49 Golda with food
everyone is keeping their distance now, the oldest in the front row, the others behind.
The oldest receives first
Image

Then the middle one is allowed to eat.
The youngest gets a slap when he tried...
The Little is very careful now and prefers to do without.

13:03 Another delivery by Gray.
The oldest fills his stomach full. He/she is the boss
The others now have a good chance. Also the youngest :2thumbsup:

So, it looks like the eldest chick has ring number E95, the youngest E93, and the middle one E87. (I would've expected consecutive numbers, if not necessarily in age order, but hey... :whistling:)

Yeah, looks like I somehow posted the "N version" while I was still editing it

Thanks for capturing this morning's food fight; I was out when it happened. Really interesting to see these nestlings behave like that, especially how none of them would back down -- least of all the youngest (i.e. E93). I think you're right that yesterday's food deprivation was probably the cause of it. Hopefully we won't see too much more of this, since Golda and Grejs are such good providers.

Nice catch, olgapyat! I often listen to this cam -- wonderful birdsong all day long, and no resident raptors making noise  But I don't look at it often enough. (Btw I once saw a Black Woodpecker visiting an empty WTE nest.)

yitmoth,Yes, the birds sing well there) Nests that are left without hosts are sometimes visited by very interesting guests :headroll:
