Yes, I think that Padis is the most beautiful bird I have ever seen..that you for being alerted. It's so great to know that there he is in his home forest and his own nest!

Maybe Padis has a nest elsewhere with several chicks ? He comes 'home' for some quiet 'ME' time. It is after all Fathers Day today.
Happy to see you Padis,anytime.

For those who did not have the opportunity to see the Sunday visit of Padis, I put three videos.
Padis arrived at 12:09 and stayed in the nest relatively long: 1 hour and 38 minutes. First, he did a small cleanup and rearranging in the nest, and then focused on the accurate maintenance of his feathers.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwlcEcBDn5I (9 min. 40 sec.)
After one hour, poor Padis once again tried to call with a nostalgic voice any female.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NmwzcHQwZs (1 min. 6 sec.)
At 13:47 Padis left the nest.

See you, Padis.

Simply to let you know, that Toomas flew in area of BS webcam between 2 and 4 PM yesterday.
But probably Padis was also there closeby and we did not see Toomas on nest.
Toomas seems to be single or failed nesting, last couple of weeks he was very few times on his nest.
And only yesterday Toomas visited after migration this area, where we caught him last July.

It is raining at the moment. The camera was disconnected for some hours, now it is working again. The nest is empty and without the sunshine it is looking more clearly.

Thank you for the news, Urmas!Urmas wrote:Simply to let you know, that Toomas flew in area of BS webcam between 2 and 4 PM yesterday.

Poor Toomas, so sad that he's lonely just like Padis... would have been nice to see him again anyway. I hope he will visit this cam-nest one day.
Urmas, how are other Black Storks doing? Do you know about some nests with chicks? When will you go ringing them? Please let us know and please post some pictures too.

Visited only few nests of BS up today, mostly unoccupied ones. Yesterday had a look also on Valdurs nest, there were no owners nearby. Before the spring our people (mainly Ain and Tarmo) installed trail cameras on several BS nests, so we will know about their nesting after BSs arrivied at home.
Couple of images from Valdurs nest are following. He met mate on the nest, but by unknown reasons there were no eggs laid...

Great pictures!
I see these storks have had a helping hand building their nest (thank you good people , also for the trail cameras). Is there a family/chicks in any of these nests?
Don't want to be annoying, but more pictures would be most welcome!

Yes, that is an artificial nest platform we built about 7 years ago and Valdur visited that last year first time.
I'm sure in some nest we get happy, looking over the nest edge...
Only problem is that trail cameras batteries do not last so long as we don't want to go to the nest before storklets there big enough. In Valdurs place last images were from 19th of May.

As the link between forest and tower appeared to be very weak and unstabile, we decided to switch it off.
Don't know if or when we restore link, that needs some work on place.
